    1. PARKER, Lorenzo Dow
    2. Another mystery I found a grave marker in Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN for this person. There was a large monument for PARKER and then several markers on the ground in front of it. My digital camera was full so I have to return to the cemetery, which means I didn't get much information. However from the burial index I verified the following PARKER, Lorenzo Dow b 1827 d jun 28 1909 Los Angeles, CA the date he was buried in Lakewood is not noted. PARKER, Russell date of death and age are not noted but he was buried nov 11 1889 PARKER, Sarah Priscilla date of death and age not noted but burial was Nov 11 1889 PARKER, Florence marker notes 1851-1851 - she does not appear in the index but I assume she would have been moved to Lakewood from another location as the first burial in the cemetery was 1872. there are a few other markers but I do not have the names and they are not listed on the index at this time. Does anyone know anything about this Lorenzo Dow Parker? I found several of them at the LDS website but not fit the year of birth given. Clearly he had a Minnesota connection. He was too old to have been born here, and he died in California and was brought back here for burial. So I assume that possibly other family members (those noted) brought him back to the location where he owned a gravesite. Does anyone know who his parents were? Again he is of the correct age to be a cousin to my great great grandfather, and possibly a sibling to Lucius Parker whom I previously noted. I realize Parker is a common enough name that I can expect that not all of them in MN are related to me. However I also need to rule that out. Thanks for any help Jo Hogle

    1. PARKER, Lucius
    2. Burial records indicate that Lucius PARKER was born in 1823 location unknown, and died in 1893 in Minneapolis Minnesota. What is strange is that I have gravemarkers for this same person in 2 different cemeteries. At Parker's Lake Cemetery in Plymouth, MN a marker appears amidst my family of Parker's but he is not a brother to my great great grandfather. At Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN a marker is noted close to a person named Charles, who was born in 1867 so probably his son, and a woman named Amanda who was born in 1832 so this could be his wife. The only person I can locate named Lucius Parker that fits the year of birth +/- 1 was born in Vermont in 1822, died in 1893 and appeared in the 1880 Minnesota Census. But I have no idea who his parents were. My theory is that this man is a cousin to my great great grandfather, Isreal Parker who was the son of Rev. James M. Parker. I do not have any siblings for the Rev James, so I am hoping that Lucius will lead me to that information. Does anyone have any connection to this person? I do not currently subscribe to any of the census record sites due to finances, so I can not check the earlier census records. Any help on this mystery would be appreciated. Jo Hogle

    1. Poss.VA/1600s/[MSCOPIAH/JEFFERSON] John Wilson
    2. Dear John, This is a big 'shot in the dark' and, simply, might just be a misleading detour....but, certainly, stranger things have happened in my family research than such as might be the case here. I have struggled very much with finding my PARKER family history past my paternal 2nd great grandfather, Jeremiah "Jerry" PARKER, born: abt. 1795 poss. in Maryland, whom I believe may have 1st married a Sarah BAZAR December 17, 1822 in Jefferson County, Mississippi which later became Pickering County, I believe, and then we know he is found in the 1830 Copiah County, MS with his presumed 1st wife, unnamed, and their children, and again in the 1840 census and then in the 1850 Smith County, MS census he is found with his much younger 2nd set of children, unnamed but whose names I knew, and his 2nd/3rd wife, Sarah "Sally" JENNINGS, whom is later the head of the household in the 1870 Rankin Co., MS census. First of all, your posts to the Jefferson County, MS and Copiah Co., MS lists caught my eye since they are in the early 1800s in Mississippi and then the name of WILSON....and this is definitely a far reach....but seeing as how my groups of ancestors traveled along migratory trails with connecting families from back in the 1600s in Virginia forward until current day in Mississippi and Louisiana it is always a good place to check. My aformentioned Sarah "Sally" JENNINGS, 2nd wife of Jeremiah "Jerry" PARKER was the daughter of Kitty EARLE, born: Abt. 1795 in either Virginia or Christian County, Kentucky, (later Caldwell Co.,) d/o Tabitha WILLIAMS, born: Abt. 1766 in North Farnham Parish, Richmond County, Virginia, and Samuel EARLE, IV, (RS,) born: January 20, 1760 at "Town Run" Plantation, Fauquier County, Virginia, (s/o Elizabeth HOLBROOK, (2nd wife,) and (Major) Samuel EARLE, III, (1st wife was Anna SORRELL,) and Kitty EARLE's husband, Bailey JENNINGS, born: Abt. 1789 in VA/SC/or poss. Christian Co., KY, (later Caldwell,) where in Dec. 1811 he married Kitty EARLE. He was the son of Rachel JORDAN and John JENNINGS, Sr., b: Abt. 1748 in Richmond Co., VA, then went into SC during Rev. War and then Christian Co., KY, who was the son of Sarah MOORE?/MORE? and Edward Salley JENNINGS, Sr., born: January 1720 in Richmond Co., VA, whose middle name of SALLEY may actually be from direct descent somehow or known family relationship with the SALLIS/SALLEE/SALLEY family of Old Rappahannock/Richmond Co., VA, who was the son of William JENNINGS, Jr., son of Mary WILLOUGHBY? and William JENNINGS, Sr., son of Margaret PAYNE and John JENNINGS, Sr., immigrant in 1630s to Old Rappahannock Co., VA, and Margaret PAYNE later married 2nd husb: Christopher EDRINGTON, Sr. and she was the daughter of Margaret ROBINSON and immigrant John PAYNE of Old Rappahannock Co., VA. William JENNINGS, Jr. had a brother named Augustine JENNINGS who married Hannah WILLIAMS. Edward Salley JENNINGS, Sr.'s mother and the wife of William JENNINGS, Jr. was Ann KELLY, born: Abt. 1695 in Richmond Co., VA, died: 1734/35 in Richmond Co., VA was the daughter of (Captain) John KELLY and Amy DONIPHAN, (later married 2nd husband: Edward RANSDELL,) who was the daughter of Amiee PARTRIDGE, (1st wife,) and (Captain) Alexander DONIPHANS, Sr., (later married 2nd wife, Margaret MOTT, and 3rd wife, Susannah SMITH?,) and (Captain) John KELLY was the son of Matthew KELLY, Sr. and Penelope "Nelly" NORTON, (d/o Patrick NORTON.) There is a WILSON/WILLSON family in 1600s Old Rappahannock County, Virginia and 1700s Richmond County, Virginia that married into the KELLY - DONIPHAN - JENNINGS - PAYNE - WILLOUGHBY? - WILLIAMS family group. I don't know if they were part of the same migratory group as my branches or not but some of the WILSON/WILLSON names that I have are: Richard/Robert WILSON/WILLSON who married Sarah PARTRIDGE, (sister of the above, Aime, and Samuel, Mary, and Elizabeth) George WILSON/WILLSON, b: 1722, who married Elizabeth EIDSON, d/o Edward EIDSON, Sr., b: October 07, 1680 in Dublin, Ireland, d: February 05, 1731/32 in Richmond Co., VA, and Penelope ?/KELLY?, parents of Sarah EIDSON who married Matthew KELLY, brother of my aforementioned paternal 6th great grandmother, Ann KELLY, (who married William JENNINGS, Jr.,) and son of (Captain) John KELLY and Amy DONIPHAN, (later married Edward RANSDELL,) and this George WILSON/WILLSON was the son of: Henry WILSON/WILLSON, b: Abt. 1670, who married Susannah Winifred FOUSHEE, b: Abt. 1680, who were parents of Martha Elizabeth WILSON/WILLSON, b: 1782 in Richmond Co., VA, who married Alexander Doniphan KELLY, Sr., brother of the aformentioned Matthew KELLY and Ann KELLY, and Martha's brother, George WILSON/WILLSON Like I said, don't know that there is a connection, but I have found so very many of my lines by stumbling across family groups connected back in time to family groups, etc..... Good luck. Let me know if anything connects. Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick-Barnett In a message dated 9/18/2004 11:14:24 AM Central Daylight Time, Wilson950@aol.com writes: I'm looking for a John Wilson. I found him in Fair River, Lawrence County, Mississippi for the first time in 1822 on a tax list. He married a Mary Jane Newman in 1824 in Lawrence Co. Ms. John Wilson appeared on a will of Benjamin Wilson in Lawrence co. Ms. in the 1830's I could not find him on a census in 1830, but the Pike Co. Ms. list is missing for that year and I think he and Mary Jane were living there. A son Rodolphus Wilson was born in 1838 to John and Mary Jane Wilson. In the 1840 census Mary is the head of household in Pike Co. Ms. I don't find them in the 1850 census, but in 1860 she and her son Rodolphus Wilson are living in Pike Co. Ms. Rodlphus served in the 16th Ms. Infantry during the Civil War, and by 1870 he has a wife and son, and his mother Mary Jane Wilson is living in Lincoln Co. Ms with a son of her's by her first marriage, his name is Hiram M. Norman. By 1880 she must be dead. I found no more records. I found a obituary of Hiram Norman's in 1892 which said he was buried beside his mother, in Pike Co. Ms. I went to the grave and found his marker, his wife's, but not his mother's. I found a lot of Prestridge family members living near this family in Lawrence Co. Ms. and I found where one had married a Wilson in Lawrence Co. I would love to find anyone working on this Benjamin Wilson in the County. Thanks for any help. John Wilson

    1. Re: Moses Parker of Late 1700s Georgia
    2. Carol, There was a Parker line that moved from Virginia (perhaps Loudon County) to Marlboro County, SC that contained a Moses Parker born in 1744. I think he had a son named Moses, too. Part of this clan lived for a while in southeast North Carolina not far from Marlboro County, SC. Some of these Parkers, including another Moses, moved on to Georgia. I am also studying this line (without much success) thinking my Daniel Parker born in 1750s is part of this same Moses Parker line. He lived in several places in South Carolina and it appears served with Francis Marion during the Revolution along with one or two of the Moses Parkers. Please let me know if you stumble onto my Daniel. Bruce Nichols

    1. Parker DNA project update 9/2/04
    2. Hello Cousins: We have added two DNA test results to our web page: http://web.utk.edu/~corn/parkerdna/ These individuals had their DNA tested because they thought they had a common ancestor, but could not find documentation to confirm the link. Check the results page for Family Group #2. I also added a graphic explaining why only male PARKERs can have their DNA tested for this project. From the home page click on "y-chromosome". Please email me if you have questions, or are interested in participating. Dennis West descended from Isham PARKER, 1815, AL or MD coordinator for PARKER surname DNA project.

    2. Hello to the KNIGHT, LEWIS, ELLZEY, COLEMAN, AND BRIGHT LISTS: # 1: Re: Carrie/Karrie KNIGHT and John LEWIS and Harriet ELLZEY and daughter, Rachael Moranda/Marinda "Randa/Randy" LEWIS poss. aka Moranda COLEMAN md: ? COLEMAN? md: John Wesley BRIGHT md: Spencer B. PARKER of Rankin County, Mississippi and later Simpson County, Mississippi (family was in Copiah County and Smith County before Rankin) Jones County, Mississippi Abt. 1851 # 2: Re: Mary COLLINS?, thought to be the wife of Evan ELLZEY, b: late 1700s prob. in South Carolina, who moved to Jones County, Mississippi, and she was the mother of his children believed to have been Harriet ELLZEY, b: 1824 prob. in Jones County, Mississippi, George W. COLEMAN?, possible 1st husband for Rachael Moranda/Marinda "Randa/Randy" LEWIS whom is said to have married both known husbands, John Wesley BRIGHT and Spencer B. PARKER, under the name of Moranda COLEMAN......why????? I am revisiting an old question with # 1 since finding that one of my paternal great grandmother's half-sister's granddaughters whom I recently heard from online has some of the same divergent information in her family group as I had in mine. It may be a result of a simple earlier mistake in assigning and pronouncing family names but then, again, it may be something else. Our mutual great grandmother was Rachael Moranda/Marinda "Randa/Randy" LEWIS born in 1851 in Jones County, MS, whom is usually seen as the daughter of Harriett ELLZEY and John LEWIS in other branches connecting information but, so far, in the past 10 years each time I have connected with another family branch descended from my great grandmother, Rachael Moranda LEWIS, I have found the name of her father as John LEWIS but her mother's name shows up as Carrie/Karrie KNIGHT. And Rachael Moranda LEWIS is said to have married both known husband's, John Wesley BRIGHT and Spencer B. PARKER, my great grandfather, under the name of Moranda COLEMAN but we still don't know where the COLEMAN name came from. There are connecting KNIGHT families to this family group in Jones County, MS and lots of of KNIGHT individuals but still have not uncovered any direct connection with a Carrie/Karrie KNIGHT and John LEWIS who was married to Harriet ELLZEY as another wife/etc.. Could this name of Carrie/Karrie KNIGHT have been a simple confused entry for Harriet ELLZEY and the BRIGHT family name that Rachael Moranda married into and had children by including one daughter named Rachael Moranda/Marinda "Randa/Randy" LEWIS born: 1851 in Jones County, Mississippi died: Aft. 1894 in Simpson County, Mississippi (does anyone have the date and cause of her death?) mother: Harriett ELLZEY born: 1824 in Jones County, MS or possibly South Carolina mother: Mary COLLINS? (The # 2 Re: Mary COLLINS?....this info is said to be in an ELLZEY - LEWIS family Bible...is Mary a COLLINS?) father: Evan ELLZEY father: John LEWIS born: Abt. 1820 in Jones County, MS mother: Nancy COPELAND mother: Rachael TUCKER father: Ripley COPELAND, Sr., (RS) father: Howell LEWIS, Sr. md: poss. a ? COLEMAN? md: John Wesley BRIGHT md: Spencer B. PARKER Can anyone shed any tiny amount of light on the situation involving the name of Carrie/Karrie KNIGHT continually resurfacing as the mother of Rachael Moranda/Marinda "Randa/Randy" LEWIS/aka Moranda COLEMAN?/aka Mrs. Rachel Moranda LEWIS BRIGHT PARKER? Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you. Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick-Barnett

In addition to Bailey JENNINGS and other siblings there was a sister of Bailey who was named Winniford/Winnifred JENNINGS, born: May 15, 1784 in Christian County, Kentucky, (according to some info that I have but other info says that Bailey JENNINGS, born: Abt. 1789 might have been born in Richmond County, Virginia,) and Winniford JENNINGS died: December 17, 1856, and she married William HARRELL on August 15, 1804 in Kentucky, probably Christian County. Looking forward to hearing from anyone who might have more information on this HARRELL family group. Thank you. Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick-Barnett
