We have Mary Sawtell marrying Benjamin Parker too. Perhaps our data may be of some help, even if only to point to a source you may not have seen. What we have came from the original research of the vital records by Joanna Curtis while following her family's Shattuck ancestry. She passed it along to me in PAF 2.31 format several years ago to edit and put on the Internet. Since there are many links between the Parker and Shattuck families, I did my best to merge and link the Parker lines properly from the early immigrant lines down. I also input the remaining data from Lemuel Shattuck's "Memorials of The Descendants of William Shattuck; Dutton and Wentworth, Boston, 1855." Including most of "Parker Memorials", as Appendix V on pages 375-377 which was also a great help. The book is widely available. How accurate the information is, I don't know. Our data, which includes the sources used can be found at: <http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=rckline-shattuck&id=I2355> If anyone would like a PDF file which includes more sources and some notes, just email me directly. Jo, There are a number of options for access to the New England Historic Genealogical Society Register. 1. Become an NEHGS member Main page http://www.newenglandancestors.org/ Membership page https://www.newenglandancestors.org/membership/join/Default.asp An individual Research membership is $75 per year - you receive printed copies of new issues of the Register and get internet access to the Register back issues (1847-1984) and a number of other databases through the website. I'm an NEHGS member and use the website daily. 2. NEHG Register (1847-1984) on CD ROM (9 CDs) can be purchased from the NEHGS Store http://www.newenglandancestors.org/store/ It's also not cheap, I think at least $200. 3. Minnesota Resources Look on the internet for genealogical libraries, Genealogical Societies, Historical Societies and Public Libraries in your area. In a quick check, I see the following have the NEHG Register on CD ROM or in paper form: A) Minnesota Genealogical Society in Golden Valley, MN. http://mngs.org/index.html B) Minnesota Historical Society in St. Paul, MN. http://www.mnhs.org/index.htm There are likely other sources in Minnesota. 4. Check with your local Public Library Many public libraries now have HeritageQuest access FREE for patrons (access through the internet from your home PC with your library card account). Many libraries also have Ancestry Plus access FREE through internet PCs in the library. HQ does not have the Register and I do not know if Ancestry Plus has the Register or not, but these are both valuable resources, possibly available to you for FREE. I have made great use of Inter-Library loan from my public library and through my state's library system. NEHG Register may not be available through inter-library loan, but your library may be able to request photocopies of specific articles at a modest cost. I hope these ideas are of some help, Jim
Jo, You can obtain copies of articles from the Allen County Library in Ft. Wayne. PERSI is the index of their holdings. PERSI can be searched on Ancestry, I believe. Last time I ordered copies, it was $7.50 +$.25/page. Response was pretty rapid. They do not have them here in MN, that I am aware, and I am uncertain where to find them. I know I can subscribe now, but that doesn't give me the back issues. Or does it give you access to them online or something? Thanks for the advice and the clarifiction. Jo Hogle

Does anyone know what Parker family actor Fess Parker belongs to? Just curious... Richard Foster Austin, TX
Jo, Pardon the senior moment. Daughter of Obadiah and Hannah (Lawrence) Sawtell Jim
Jo, The article "Richard Sawtell of Watertown, Mass.", NEHG Register vol. 126, Jan 1972 says: Mary Sawtell, b. abt 1699 (daughter of Obadiah and Hannah (Lawrence) Parker) married Lt. Benjamin Parker on 23 Oct 1718 in Groton, pp. 8-9 Mary Sawtell, b. 11 Apr 1697 (daughter of Zachariah and Mary (Blood) Sawtell) married John Blanchard on 20 May 1722 in Groton, p. 10 An earlier NEHG Register article - "Joseph Blanchard of Boston, Mass., and Some of His Descendants", vol. 93, April 1939, p. 69 also reports that John Blanchard married Mary Sawtell, daughter of Zachariah and Mary (Blood) Sawtell. I don't see that either article provides definitive evidence to distinguish the two Marys, but in my experience, the NEHG Register is rarely mistaken. I see no later updates in the Register to refute or correct the above. Jim Kendall
Jo, We've corresponded before on the PARKERs. 1st of all, have you consulted "The Story of the Bloods", Roger Deane Harris, privately published, 1960? I borrowed the book from a man I met at the FHC one day - who turned out to be a "cousin" in several ways. Anyway, this source might have some answers for you. I would just suggest exploring some sources addressing the other surnames such as Blood and Sawtell and see what they have to say. Good luck, Jennifer Clark PS, I had some other info to share with you privately, but got a message that my email address was blocked.
Good Morning Parker List, I am reviewing some information and find some confusion. SAWTELL, Mary; b. April 11, 1697 (per Groton VRs) She is the daughter of Zachariah Jr., and Mary (Blood) Sawtell. According to Dr Samuel Green and his Groton series, she married on Oct 23, 1718; PARKER, Benjamin b. Dec 3, 1691 (per Groton VRs). He was the son of Joseph Jr., and Hannah (Jenkins) Parker. This couple had 7 children. HOWEVER... According to Elinor Skeate, in her Parker Families of Groton, MA; the above Mary SAWTELL married John BLANCHARD. Since Mary SAWTELL is also a Parker descendant, her mother Mary BLOOD was the daughter of Hannah/Anna Parker and Nathaniel Blood, I am hoping that some of you have evidence as to which piece of information is correct. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Jo Hogle
Mother was Nancy Parker born 1853 ( I think in Dorchester, MD) Married name is Gross. I am unsure where she was buried (Cemetery) Whether she has any other marriages. What her Parents names are. Any information on this family would greatly be appreciated. thanks, Anna Adams
Nathaniel Parker 1760-1820 married Jun 1788 at Roxbury to Rebecca Dudley. His title was that of Major. He is the son of Nathaniel Parker and Hannah Chamberlain. By 1790 Maj Nate was living in Brimfield, Hampden Co. - in the 1790 and 1800 census there is a son listed in the household - who predates the marriage - who is that ! Was Nathaniel a widower and was it he who married in 1785 to Mary Patterson at Boston ??? Any sons to Nathaniel and ???? of the period ?? Of importance to me. Jack Hanover,pa
Would like to correspond with descendants or anyone researching the family of Samuel PARKER who resided in Chicot County, Arkansas from the 1840' s.. Patricia
Hello Peter, Thanks for the list. I am interested as I have a great great grandfather Francis Parker born Abt. 1817 somewhere in New England. Never knew of his parents or any siblings. He shipwrecked in the Bahama Islands, married and produced seven children that I know of: John-b. 1837, unknown, Sarah, Margaret, Francis, Rebecca and William (my great grandfather). All the children were born on Eleuthera, Bahamas. The list: Is this a handwritten list? Is it hard to read? I am asking because I was really hoping the Frances Parker b. 1815 on the list could be Francis Parker. Probably not as I see the mother's name is Frances. Freshwater is a very interesting last name. Can you tell me more about it. A last name like that in the United States or North America for that matter would probably be an American Indian name. I am seeking contact with the descendants of Richard and Frances PARKER, and their children who were born between 1808 and 1828 and were baptised (according to the IGI) variously at Old Brampton and Chesterfield. I have recently been given, by a friends who have just moved house in Edinburgh, Scotland, a family Bible with a list of the children of Richard and Frances PARKER taped and pinned (originally wafered) to the front free endpaper. My friends have no connection with the Parker family that they know of, and think that one of their fathers probably acquired it many years ago as part of a job lot purchased at a house sale. They would, however, like to see the Bible returned to the descendents of the Parker family or to somewhere else where it will be welcomed. The Christian's Family Bible (Liverpool: Caxton Press, 1815 but reprinted ca 1820) is a handsome but heavy folio volume measuring 16 x 10 x 3 inches and in a contemporary suede-finish leather binding. It appears to contain no annotations, family or otherwise, apart from the taped-in list. I should be glad to hear from anyone interested in acquiring this volume for the cost of carriage. I Need anyone who connects Faithy....to the Parker family....and has proof of her maiden name to please contact me.....Faithy was born in 1810 in Abbebille, SC. I have copy of marriage record for Faithy and Enoch Knight, from Henry Co, GA, 1827. I have a copy of a will someone sent me....for John Baker May 03, 1823, Abbeville, SC., wife was Elizabeth, and the will lists the names of five children....John, Elizabeth, William, Joseph, and Faithy.... Please, anyone ?, if you have any knowledge of this family....please contact me....I need the proof for Faithy's last name....(maiden name) butterflywings@bellsouth.net
Seek ancestry, siblings, and family history of Dr. Erastus & Mariah PARKER. My earliest knowledge of them is the 1850 census at Covington, Wyoming Co., NY, where they were recorded with three daughters: Erastus S. Parker, 48, NY, stove/store/stone(?) peddler. Mariah H. Parker, 47, MA. Mary E. S. Parker, 19, CT. Hannah M. Parker, 17, NY. Harriet R. H. Parker, 12, NY. There may have been other children. A great-grandson of Erastus Parker left hand-written genealogical notes circa 1960s indicating five Parker daughters (i.e., Mary, Hannah, Harriet and two unnamed). Soon after 1850 the Parkers removed some 25 miles east to Lima, Livingston Co., NY, where at least two of the daughters resided when they married in the mid- and late-1850s. Erastus was recorded in the 1860 and 1870 census without a wife: 1860 at Poygan, Winnebago Co., WI: Erastus (60, NY, physician) was recorded with the family of Hiram & Sarah LEE (relationship, if any, unknown). They were next to the family of his daughter Mrs. Mary (Parker) Dean. 1870 at Genesee Twp., Genesee Co., MI: Erastus (68, NY, physician) was recorded with the family of Chaney/Chauncey & Susan BRADDOCK (relationship, if any, unknown). Corrina FARLEY, daughter of Orpha KNAPP and her 2nd husband Daniel FARLEY, was born about 1858, in Ohio (probably Huron County). Her mother's 1st husband was William SISSON and 3rd husband was John CURRAN. In 1860, 1870, and 1880 she was with her mother in Fairfield Township (1860, 1870) or North Fairfield Village (1880), Huron County, Ohio. She married E. D. PARKER. In 1896 she was living in Tiffin, Ohio. I haven't been able to find them in the 1900 census. The following obituary of her mother appeared in 1896 in The Firelands Pioneer. MRS. ORPHA CURRAN, wife of John Curran, died at Tiffin, February 24, 1896, in the 76th year of her life. She was the daughter of Brandage [sic] Knapp, who came to Huron county in 1828 and settled in Greenwich township. Mrs. Curran was born in West Chester county, New York, and came with her parents to Ohio when she was eleven years old. She was married and a widow three times and was the mother of three children, one son and two daughters. The son died at the age of thirteen years. The daughters, Mrs. E. D. Parker, of Tiffin, and Mrs. R. B. King, of Norwalk, are left. I'm seeking additional information about E. D. and Corinna (Farley) Parker. In particular, did they have children? From the tax rolls, one John Wood/s lived near my Asa Parker and Phoebe Wood/s and is a possibility of being her father. Asa and Phoebe Wood/s Parker named sons: Asa, Jr., John Woods Parker, Solomon Alford, William, Stephen Decatur and Othniel Parker. They migrated to Monroe Co., AL by 1830 and some to Lauderdale Co., MS. Is anyone interested in this line? I want to know what my P. Elizabeth Parker's first name was? Also, who were the parents of Phoebe Wood/s? I will be glad to compare notes with interested persons. Thank you! Hello cousins, We have added several new DNA results to the web pages since our last update: http://www.parkerdna.org/ http://web.utk.edu/~corn/parkerdna/ Check the 'ancestors' page to see if you could share an ancestor with any of our participants. We now have DNA samples from descendents of two different sons of Elder John PARKER. Those two match on 24 of 25 markers, giving us confidence that we have confirmed the DNA profile of that line. They also match the descendents of Robert PARKER of 1630, Barnstable, Mass. We need participation by more PARKER males to help identify different PARKER lines. Please email Greg or I if you have questions. Dennis West, cousin of P07 descended from Isham PARKER, 1815 AL or MD Parker DNA co-coordinator
