    1. Re: James Parker b.1865
    2. Hello Cousins, I received the below message from Martin Plummer. I am not able to give him any assistance with the identity of the James PARKER he mentions. Email me if you want to correspond with Mr. Plummer. Dennis West PARKER DNA project co-admin http://web.utk.edu/~corn/parkerdna/ ----------------------------------------------- Dear Sirs I have large china jug with the name James Parker 1865 painted on it. I understand that it was offten the practice to buy such things to commemorate a birth. I bought the jug in England about ten years ago. Did any of his decendants move to the U.K.? Was it also common practice to do this in the US.? There is no manufacturers mark on the base as it is not fine china, but is still very pretty. I saw on the net that a sailor called James Parker died in 1865 who had served on Nelson's flagship Victory at the battle of Trafalgar. Regards Martin Plummer

    3. Hello. I am new to these lists and am a descendant of Sarah Parker and husband, Henry William Jones of Granville County, NC. Sarah was the daughter of David Parker and Chloe Adcock. Sarah was born in 1794. I am familiar with a lot of Parker research and am aware of the confusion between all the Richard Parkers from VA and NC. I am looking for a copy of the book, Some Ancestors and Descendants of Richard Parker, Chirurgeon, by Eleanor Davis McSwain. I know there is a copy in the Macon County, GA library and have copied a few pages while there, but I would like to have my own copy. Hopefully, someone on these lists will know where I may purchase a copy. Many thanks for any suggestions. Suzanne Russell -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Need proof of lineage of descendants of Thomas who died 1717 in Chowan Co., NC and descendants of his who migrated to the Anson Co. NC area (including Tryon, Mecklenburg, NC and York Co., SC) I am trying to tie these families together. They migrated from the same area--Chowan Co., NC--but I need proof to tie them together. There are no wills or deeds that offer proof that I can find but I would like to tie these ends together and I have descendants who can offer samples for DNA testing. Thanks for the help. 1. Isaac Parker Jr> Charlestown,NH
    2. Hello Parker list, I am going through old bits of information and I came across something that confuses me. In The History of Fort No. 4, Charlestown, New Hampshire, Saunderson makes a notation that the death date on Isaac Parker Jr's gravestone is in error. This is also stated to me in emails from other list members. The reasoning being that it is noted as April 1758 and yet Isaac Parker Jr held office in 1759 and apparently he had a child with his second wife, Mehitable, in 1760. Certainly a gravestone that was "planted" many years after the actual date could be in error, but we have no idea when this marker was placed. The one thing that jumps out at me is that Isaac Jr had a son named Isaac - he would have been old enough to hold that office and have a child in 1760, as he would have been aged 29 and 30 respectively. So is it possible that the third Isaac Parker, son of Isaac Jr and Mary, is actually the one who married Mehitable and had 3 children (all named the same as 3 of his siblings)? I realize that naming patterns were different, but I have found very few families that named children the same as a sibling (unless that sibling was deceased). In other words, in this case there would be 2 Sarahs only 10 years apart in age. I do not have any information on most of Isaac Jr and Mary (?) children. Maybe that would clarify this for me. But I would like to hear evidence to prove that this was Isaac Jr and not the third Isaac Parker. I am still researching, but my sources are rather limited on this subject. Anyone able to help? Jo Hogle (Always playing the devil's advocate)

    2. K Powell
    3. Dorothy "Dolly" Parker b 2 Oct 1757 France lived at Monmouth NJ at the time of the Battle of Monmouth 18 JUN 1778. According to lore Dolly was a nurse in the Continental Army, and trained as a nurse in the French army before coming to NJ with her father's family prior the revolution, thus tells about when this Parker family arrived there, if accurate. I haven't found any clue yet who her parents were except that her father was a physician, born perhaps 1730s or earlier. She'd gone to the battlefield the morning after the battle and her husband-to-be John COOK was among the victims she managed to take to her father's house for care. That is all I know about her life as a young woman. Also if she really was a nurse for the Continental Army I'd like to document that because the DAR message board volunteers suggested she could be registered on her own, not only as her husband's wife. That suggestion was offered eagerly to me so of course I'd like to try! Kaye in Texas __________________________________ Yahoo! SAWTELL, Mary; b. April 11, 1697 (per Groton VRs) She is the daughter of Zachariah Jr., and Mary (Blood) Sawtell. According to Dr Samuel Green and his Groton series, she married on Oct 23, 1718; PARKER, Benjamin b. Dec 3, 1691 (per Groton VRs). He was the son of Joseph Jr., and Hannah (Jenkins) Parker. This couple had 7 children. HOWEVER... According to Elinor Skeate, in her Parker Families of Groton, MA; the above Mary SAWTELL married John BLANCHARD. Since Mary SAWTELL is also a Parker descendant, her mother Mary BLOOD was the daughter of Hannah/Anna Parker and Nathaniel Blood, I am hoping that some of you have evidence as to which piece of information is correct. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Jo Hogle
