    1. [PARKER] Ephraim Parker of Erie, NY
    2. Gil Parker
    3. I am searching for the parents of Ephraim Parker (who probably had brothers John and Eli). Ephraim was born in MA and lived his life in Erie Co, NY, and died in 1853. Married to Clarissa and had 12 children: Simon b 1815, Clarissa and Susan (twins) b1817, Wilder b 1819, Betsy b1821, Maria b 1823, Anna b 1826, Adaline b 1828, David b 1830, George L b 1832, Elbert E b1834, and Sarah W b 1838. Susan married B.F.Holmes and her eldest son was Representative Ira Homes from Iowa. Susan is buried in Palmyra, Wisconsin. Wilder and family (with Mary Cruver) was my great granddfather and died in the Civil War, also buried in Palmyra. We have some information about Adeline, David, and George. We have our full line from Ephraim down to me, but Ephraim is my "brick wall". Family rumours that Ephraim's father was a captured British General (Saratoga) married to a woman called Slocum. Thanks for any info. Gil Parker gparker@telus.net

Irene Shattuck can be found in our Shattuck database here: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=rckline-shattuck&id=I7274 Her ancestry is recorded in Lemuel Shattuck's "Memorials of The Descendants of William Shattuck; Dutton and Wentworth, Boston, 1855." Which was extended in Beatrix Marie Larson's Shattuck Memorials No. II (Richland Center, WI Richland County Publishers, INC., 1977). The extensive Shattuck research of vital records, cemetery visits, etc. by Joanna Curtis was the basis of our main Shattuck database. It includes 24 Shattuck/Parker marriages, most of which occurred in Massachussetts in the 16 and 1700's. One of these 24 marriages is by Irene's aunt Mary Ann Shattuck to Dean Shattuck 12 Mar 1840, probably in Erie County, PA. I presume Emily and Dean Parker are closely related and should document that relationship as well as link them to our other Shattuck/Parker marriages where sources are available. Thank you for alerting me to these relationships. Robert Kline http://www3.telus.net/robertkline/

I enjoyed reading it through. I must check out the Historical Society to see what else may be available. Also, I found interest in the BECKWITH name since I currently live on the Beckwith Farm of circa 1900 in Harbor Creek.. I was searching for why my father's cousin was named Parker Russell, guessing that the Parkers and the Russells lived near each other in Belle Valley, Erie CO, PA that there must be a connection. Here's what I found: HENRY SHATTUCK, born in Erie Co., Penn., March 4, 1818, son of Spencer and Sally (Burton) Shattuck, was their eldest child. He at one time owned a grist mill in Mill Creek Township. Mr. Shattuck had been married twice, first to EMILY PARKER, and of their five children, I am most interested in IRENE, wife of Henry Hubbell Russell who was the son of Capt. Nathaniel Willard Russell and Frances Adelia HUBBELL. The Russell homestead still stands in Belle Valley. So, Irene and Henry Russell had 5 Children: Nathaniel Willard Russell Stewart S Russell Warner H Russell Frances H Russell J Parker Russell and Hirim H Russell My great aunt and uncle were Nathaniel 'Uncle Will' RUSSELL and Birdella 'Aunt Dell" RIPLEY of Belle Valley. Della's parents were Christian and Elizabeth Whiteford Ripley. Christian RIPLEY was at one time the postmaster of Belle Valley, operating out of his General Store on Schrimper RD. Will and Della Russell had five children who were: Florence, Harold, Ruth, Mabel, and HENRY PARKER RUSSELL who preferred to be called 'Park' Russell. So 4 generations later, the PARKER name still continues. And 6 generations later, PARKER is still used as a middle name.

I had a whole folder of letters, documents and Jonas's will. Letters from Dean to his wife and children and an assortment of other papers. I gave them to a descendant of Dean Parker. The woman I gave them to was going to take what she wanted related to Dean and give the rest to the Erie Historical Society. I did how ever copy the Will and a sketch of how Jonas Parker came to Mill Creek, written by Martha Sophia Parker daughter of Amanda Allen. I don't have much on Emily but I do have their kids names listed. I have no way of knowing anything else about these notes but I will tell you this info came from a crumbling old school notebook written in pencil. The Parker Sketch Continues was written by Bertha Ribblet Pire and added into the notebook. I copied it before I sent it to Erie. Best regards, HortonHunter
