    2. Cathie Parker
    3. Greetings Parker researchers, You may have noted from the message board posts coming through to this list that the boards have been upgraded. I wanted to share with you the information that I sent to the lists that I admin as an FYI. You will notice that messages coming through from the message board are now showing the gateway address as the sender and not the person who posted the message on the board. This is due to upgrades recently made to the board system. Any replies you wish to make must be posted on the board. Replying to the list will not reach the the board poster and replying to the gateway address will result in the email bouncing. If you haven't visited the message board in the past week or so, you might want to do that to see the changes. Click all the links to check them out and don't miss the ones at the bottom of the page. Another thing I want you to note, there are no email addresses showing on the board. These boards are world wide searchable for genealogy purposes and any other purpose. They are regularly mined by Sp*m harvesters software. If you have left your email address in the body of a message, you should go back and edit the message to either remove your email or change it to something on this order: c parker at telepath dot com. Happy Holidays, Cathie

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Parker Classification: military Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.parker/14169/mb.ashx Message Board Post: PARKER, SAMUEL 1. Rank and organization: Second Lieutenant, U.S. Army, Company K, 28th Infantry, 1st Division. Place and date: Near Soissons, France, 18-19 July 1918. Entered service at: Monroe, N.C. Birth: Monroe, N.C. G.O. No.: 1, W.D. 1937. Citation: For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty. During the attack the 2d and 3d Battalions of the 28th Infantry were merged, and after several hours of severe fighting, successfully established a frontline position. In so doing, a gap was left between the right flank of the French 153d Division on their left and the left flank of the 28th Infantry, exposing the left flank to a terrific enfilade fire from several enemy machineguns located in a rock quarry on high ground. 2d Lt. Parker, observing this serious situation, ordered his depleted platoon to follow him in an attack upon the strong point. Meeting a disorganized group of French Colonials wandering leaderlessly about, he persuaded them to join his platoon. Thi! s consolidated group followed 2d Lt. Parker through direct enemy rifle and machinegun fire to the crest of the hill, and rushing forward, took the quarry by storm, capturing 6 machineguns and about 40 prisoners. The next day when the assault was continued, 2d Lt. Parker in command of the merged 2d and 3d Battalions was in support of the 1st Battalion. Although painfully wounded in the foot, he refused to be evacuated and continued to lead his command until the objective was reached. Seeing that the assault battalion was subjected to heavy enfilade fire due to a gap between it and the French on its left, 2d Lt. Parker led his battalion through this heavy fire up on the line to the left of the 1st Battalion and thereby closed the gap, remaining in command of his battalion until the newly established lines of the 28th Infantry were thoroughly consolidated. In supervising the consolidation of the new position, 2d Lt. Parker was compelled to crawl about on his hands and knees on! account of his painful wound. His conspicuous gallantry and spirit of self-sacrifice were a source of great inspiration to the members of the entire command. 2. Jim Yes, I am the same Jo Hogle that is researching the SETZLERS. However You most likely do NOT have an old email address for me, I use several different ones for various branches of the family - that way I can better control the volume of mail in one place. Sorry but the "Whit" part of my screen name is for WHITNEY. I do not have any WHITEMAN lines at this time. There are so many John PARKER lines. I have no record of my lines going anywhere near New Jersey or Ohio. Mine were MA, ME, MN. A few wandered into NH and VT, but they were all north and not down into NJ. So to answer your question, I am not familiar with your John Parker line and have no apparent connection in my database. Sorry Good luck hunting Jo Hogle In a message dated 12/20/2006 3:15:09 P.M. Central Standard Time, davisje@fibercow.com writes: Are you the Jo Hogle I had previous correspondence with concerning the SETZLER family of Huron and Seneca Counties, OH? If so, I have an old e-mail listing for you. I'm wondering if your query is about the same PARKER family I'm researching. Since that family is associated with the WHITEMAN family and your address begins with WhitPark, I'm guessing it is.

    3. Hi Jo, Are you the Jo Hogle I had previous correspondence with concerning the SETZLER family of Huron and Seneca Counties, OH? If so, I have an old e-mail listing for you. I'm wondering if your query is about the same PARKER family I'm researching. Since that family is associated with the WHITEMAN family and your address begins with WhitPark, I'm guessing it is. John PARKER (b. c 1750, d. 21 Sept. 1841 in Adams Twp., Seneca County, Ohio) was my 4th great - grandfather. His daughter, Rachel, was married to Samuel WHITEMAN. Since you are inquiring about a PARKER from the 1600's, I'm wondering if you have traced my John PARKER back before he came to Seneca County. I only have - from the 1850 census - that Rachel was born in NJ and - from another WHITEMAN family researcher's records - that John was married to Elizabeth ? at Kingwood mm (Quakers) Warren County, NJ. I also seem to recall reading somewhere that he served in the Revolutionary War, but so many John PARKERs served in that war, I haven't been able to find him through pension records. Looking forward to hearing from you, Jim Davis WhitPark@aol.com wrote: >Hi List > >I am trying to sort out the name of the 2nd wife of Joseph Parker of >Chelmsford, MA. > >According to the following 2 sources, that I consider fairly reliable, >Joseph had 2 wives, but each gives a different name for them. 1. Re: [PARKER] Texas and GA Parkers
    2. gc-gateway......I hate to keep calling you that. What is your name?? I think you were the one who mentioned the Cynthia Ann Parker that I wrote and said my husbands family also had that story. Again, I see your information below, and see similarities. My husbands Parkers had a Lumber business in Hardin county and hauled at times to Houston. Do you think they might be connected??? I don't have all of the descendants from all of the Parker lines going back, but I have quite a bit. Did you look at what I have, to see if any of it looked familiar? Keeping in mind that some of the "older stuff" on my Gedcom that I got from books is kind of a mixed up mess because the books didn't agree on their information. But, from Thomas Carter b.1716 in Edgecomb (old Chowan) county going thru his son Hardy Parker I, forward I have plenty of proof on. If you find any names that you also have, please let me know. http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=davidwells&id=I0771 Thanks, Kathy Wells. ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <PARKER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, December 20, 2006 12:08 AM Subject: [PARKER] Texas and GA Parkers > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: parker > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.parker/14168/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > need info on Benjamin F.
