Betty, I have heard, and am very interested, in the three Parker brothers theory, even though it has problems. The chief problem is that it has been commandeered by several Parker genealogists attempting to link their ancestors to the Texas Parkers of Quannah Parker fame. The Texas Parkers' origins are in Baltimore, MD and Hampshire County, VA, while the Parkers of the Three Brothers Theory has a hazy background--some say Georgia and some sources point to north Virginia. I heard one version of the Three Parkers Theory state that the three brothers were convicts being sent to Georgia when they jumped ship off the Georgia shore and made their way to the Carolinas. One version says the three brothers were Moses, Daniel, and Isaac or some such, while another version says the third brother was Richard. Interestingly enough, there WAS a Moses Parker born 1744 who lived at least in VA, and there WAS a Daniel Parker NOT of the more famous Texas clan who was born about 1750. The Moses Parker appears to later be part of Parkers somewhere in NC and also related to or the same as the Moses Parker who had a large family along the Pee Dee River in northeast South Carolina. During the Revolution both Moses and Daniel served with the patriot militia under Colonel Francis "Swamp Fox" Marion. There is a record of a Daniel Parker who became a sergeant under Marion, so this may be the same man. After the war the Three Brothers Theory gets really hazy. Moses and Daniel Parker appear to also be related to several Aarons, and John Parkers, too. There seems to be a Francis Parker in there, also. Does anyone have anything else on the Three Parker Brothers Theory? I descend from the Daniel's first wife, Susan. Bruce Nichols

Hi, I don't know if there are any connections or not but it has been suggested to me in the past that my 2nd great grandfather, Jeremiah "Jerry" PARKER, born: 1795 in Maryland, who shows up as the possible Jeremiah PARKER who married in either 1817 or 1822, can't remember right offhand, in Jefferson County, Mississippi and marrying a Sarah BAZAR. My Jeremiah "Jerry" PARKER was in the 1830 Copiah Co., MS census and there, again, in 1840 with his 2nd wife, my 2nd great grandmother, Sarah "Sally" JENNINGS, born: 1821 in Covington Co., MS, daughter of Kitty EARLE and Bailey JENNINGS. Jerry and Sarah were later in Smith Co., MS and he was desceased by the 1870 Rankin Co., MS census where Sarah, 2nd wife, was head of the household and then the family was later in Simpson County, MS. Bailey JENNINGS and Kitty EARLE married in 1811 in Christian County, Kentucky and both of their families had been from the Richmond and Fauquier County, Virginia area then the JENNINGS family went into South Carolina during the Revolutionary War during which both of their fathers served. Kitty's parents were Samuel EARLE, IV, (RS/Sgt.,) (2nd son of his name,) and Tabitha WILLIAMS. Bailey's parents were John JENNINGS, (RS,) and Rachel JORDAN whom I have never been able to find out anything about. There is a William JORDAN mentioned in connection with the will of John JENNINGS, (RS,) paternal grandmother, Mrs. Ann KELLY JENNINGS, widow of William JENNINGS, Jr., who were the parents of Edward Salley JENNINGS, Sr., who married Sarah MOORE and they were the parents of John JENNINGS. The man was named William JORDAN but I have net ever found out if he is in any way connected to Rachel JORDAN though I would think it high probable. The aforementioned Ann KELLY was the daughter of (Captain) John KELLY, (son of Matthew KELLY & Penelope "Nelly" NORTON,) and Amy DONIPHAN, daughter of (Captain) Alexander DONIPHAN, Sr. and his 1st wife, Am(i)ee/Amy PARTRIDGE. Whether or not my aforementioned 2nd great grandfather, Jeremiah "Jerry" PARKER, was in any way connected to his 2nd wife Sarah "Sally" JENNINGS' family group, I do not yet have any way of knowing. The chart shows all known Parkers from this line, starting with three brothers, Moses b 1744, Daniel b. 1750 and John b. 1758 (This is Elder John who was killed at Fort Parker). I'm not sure the three brothers premise is accurate. Haven't studied this family in a long time but my recollection is that Moses is not believed to belong in this line. I found a Martha Parker who was present at the Fort at the time of the raid. She was, according to this chart, born in 1835 so would have been less than a year old. Perhaps 5 months instead of 5 years? Martha was the daughter of James W. Parker (son of Elder John) and Martha Duty. This Martha (also called Patsy) is shown on the chart as marrying (1) N. Cross and (2) N. Crenshaw. No children are shown for her. Not all who were at the Fort were killed or captured. I have a list from an 1889 book INDIAN DEPRADATIONS IN TEXAS by J. W. Wilbarger which shows 31 persons at the Fort or in the nearby fields during the raid. Of these, 5 were killed, two seriously wounded (at least one of these died later). Five were captured and taken by the Commanche.
