Variables on dates on documents and census's are well know for a "spread". With that being said, yesterday I came across some genealogy on the internet that gave a John Parker b 25 Sep 17 in Delaware who married a Sarah Gordy who's seventh child was named William...within my date variable with most of the children settling towards GA. The other childrens names were similar to those in my Parker line. This is what I have to date, can anyone shine a light for me? Author: nanmisenheimer03 Surnames: Parker and Johnson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.parker/14182.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My gggreat grandfather Henry Parker was documented on the Clinton co. 1830 Illinois census. He had a male in his h.h. same age as this John L. Parker. According to the 1850 Pope co. Arkansas census, Henry Parker had a son named John L. b.ca.1832 Illinois. John L. left Arkansas with another brother supposedly for the Army and his family never heard from him again. Henry Parker was married to a Rachel. She died soon after coming to Arkansas and noone knew her maiden name. The wife who was with Henry Parker in the 1850 census was born about 1794. However, some family researchers question if Henry Parker was married again because there is an LDS marriage record listing a Henry Parker marriage to a Mrs. Henry Parker in 1832 Illinois. Henry had a lot of descendants named William Henry and James Henry Parker. We know Henry Parker in Pope co. and Clinton co. Illinois was in the military because the census lists him as a pensioner but noone has discovered his military records in War of 1812 or ? See all the coincidences? I am familiar with Katherine's entry on this John L. of yours. I understood her hypothesis was based on family oral tradition and she did not have the documents to send to me when I inquired about this. I understand that John L's wife, Celia, was married before she married John L. Did she have children from her former husband or from John L.? If he left her for some reason, his age could have been changed. The California entry was news to me. Thank you so much. However, was this man on the next census there or has anyone tracked the California John L. down for a process of elimination? My John L. disappeared from Arkansas right after he was enumerated with his father and siblings in Pope Co. Arkansas in 1850. One brother, Wilson J., was supposedly with him when they left. One lost the other somewhere in their travels is the family story. Does anyone have documents on Rachel Johnson? I would be interested to know if she emigrated to Illinois from North or South Carolina or if she was married to William Parker in Illinois and what year? 3. Hi Everyone, I sent this message through originally a month ago, I had no positive response to it. This probably means there is no information to be had, but I thought I would try again, just in case. Looking for any information on Thomas Parker; born about 1879; Son of William and Eliza Parker. Thomas Married my Great Grand Aunt. Margaret Ann Lewis, b 26 April 1878 Carmarthen Wales; Died 18 December 1934 Biddulph Ontario Canada. Thomas and Margaret were married in London City 4 April 1909. Did they have any Children? When and where was Thomas born and Died? I have presumed he was born in Canada, but I have no evidence to support this. Any information on this couple would be greatly appreciated. I have not been able to located them in the 1911 Canadian census. Anything at all would be so greatly appreciated. Greg Australia

    1. [PARKER] Jairus Parker, St. Joseph County, MI
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: zinda1 Surnames: Parker, Britton Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.parker/15103/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My great-grandfather: Jairus Parker Britton (first name also spelled Jarius, Jerris, Jerius, Jervis; surname also spelled Britten and Brittain on various documents) was b. in MI, October 1855. On the 1845 MI census there's a Jairus Parker (from NY) and Jairus Parker, Jr., in Sturgis, MI, and the 1860 US census lists a Jairus Parker, 67, b. NY, living in White Pigeon, MI, with his wife Sarah (nee Whaley, b MA). Family tradition has it that Jairus was b. in White Pigeon. Jairus Parker Britton's parents were John (b. ca 1818-23 NY--approx. year of birth is all over the place on various documents) and Elmira Wilder or Wyldson, b. ca 1824 OH). John and Elmira and children are listed on the 1850 and 1860 census in Pittsford Twp., Hillsdale Co., MI. It seems quite possible that there's a connection between Jairus Parker and Jairus Parker Britton, either by marriage or some direct relationship. I suppose it's possible that John Britton admired Jairus Parker so much that he named his son after him, but who knows?? I understand that in some cultures (e.g., Irish) children born out of wedlock were named after the father even if the mother didn't marry him, but since Jairus was John and Elmira's 5th of 6 children, that seems unlikely. Today is my dad's 90th birthday, and I'm posting this in his honor. He's the one who started me on this family history journey when he started researching the Brittons the old-fashioned way (pre-Internet) back in the early 70s. This possible Parker-Britton connection has bugged him for all these years. I'd love to solve the mystery while we're still fortunate enough to have Dad with us! Thanks in advance for any help or clues anyone can give me. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He is my 9th g-grandfather. If either of you would like a photo please send me your email address. The cemetery is beautiful and extremely well kept. Stones are cleaned as needed and cemetery sits beside the church and the pond [called The Great Pond]. I would love any information either of you may care to share. Also have a copy of his will if you are interested. His parents are John Parker and Jane Bates. Pat [Parker] Thayer Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
