    3. Barbara,   I don't really have any information on Eva Fleischman but am wondering why the connection to undertakers. Unter does mean under but that could refer to something else as well. Possibly an address.   Apparently her parents were German so maybe try to find when they emigrated.  Families usually traveled together so maybe they are on a ship's manifest.   Find the possibilities and then follow them.  Don't assume the ship is listed under Germany either.  Many came through England.   You might also look for Michael Neff.  If he came over about the same time  there may be clues there.    Very tiny clues but if you can't find someone where you think they should be - look somewhere else.   You have chosen a hard one but don't be discouraged.  They are definitely out there somewhere.  Good luck Diane Adams   Barbara McCormick <geneslady@ec.rr.com> wrote: From: Barbara McCormick <geneslady@ec.rr.com> Subject: [PAPhl] Eva M. Fleischman, b. 1843 To: paphilad@rootsweb.com Date: Tuesday, May 18, 2010, 12:45 PM My gg grandmother, Eva M. Fleischman, has been my biggest brickwall for many years and I'm hoping this well-versed group from Philly can help.  Eva M. Fleischman was born 15 Dec 1843 in Philadelphia, Pa. (taken from death certificate) and died 26 Oct 1923 in Philadelphia.  She married Michael Neff in 1865 (date taken from 1900 Census) and had 3 sons: Edward M. Neff (b. Apr 1866), Albert F. Neff (b. Mar 1867), and William Neff (b. Mar 1868).  I have found Eva on every census after her marriage, but nothing before 1870.  I would love to find her parents and any siblings.  The only clue I have (and maybe it's no help at all) is from Michael's obit:  Bayerischer Unters Verein , No 1,  and Unders Verein des D. S. S.Verein were invited to the funeral.  Since my gg grandparent's were in the grocery business, I thought maybe her family were undertakers and out of courtesy were invited to Michael's funeral.    Any help (large or small) would be greatly appreciated.....as I'm ready to start pulling my hair out!!!!!!
