    3. The name is Savilla --also Sibilla. This female given-name (and its variants) has been used in the Penna-Dutch (German) community for many years. The name of your subject was probably written as 'Siwilla' because the Penna-Dutch 'v' often becomes a 'w' sound. Supposedly this name comes from the Greek (from Sybill, meaning = prophetess). Not sure if there really is a translation of the name into English. A lot of names don't really translate, but sometimes people just choose a similar-sounding English name to use. 3. To the group, Sorry, this went out previoously without a return reply. Thanks to all who responded, Joan and Liz are on the right track. It was a woman's will, not the husband and her name is spelt differently, but similar in other records. Siwilla, Sibilla, Sybila, etc. Jane > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "E Johnson" <iris.gates@gmail.com> > To: <paphilad@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Friday, May 21, 2010 5:30 PM > Subject: Re: [PAPhl] SIWILLIA Rothermel > > > The name is Savilla --also Sibilla.
