Has anyone ever heard of a boxer who went by the name of Philadelphia Jack O'Brien? It was not his real name just the name he boxed under. It is said he boxed in the lightweight division and later had gym in downtown Philadelphia. I don't know the timeframe---but I know it was before the 1920's--maybe 1870-1900? Thank you. Elaine
I just found him on google! Elaine
I found this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Jack_O%27Brien Appears his name was Joseph Francis Hagen, January 17, 1878 – November 12, 1942. OK, here is another Philadelphia boxer who went by the name of Kid McNichols. He "had a promising career in the lightweight division" so probably not too well known. It probably would have been ca 1885-1900. I did not find anything googling this name. Thanks. Elaine
