    3. Jane..... I don't understand why he would belong to those organizations (funeral directors) when he was a grocer. Just doesn't make sense to me. Just as an example, if you search in the Mount Carmel Cemetery in New York http://www.mountcarmelcemetery.com/search.asp on the word "verein" in the "society" field, you get 596 hits, all for burials under burial societies with the word in the name of the society.
