I have the obits from the Chester Times. Last night I emailed the Catholic Cemeteries Office about how to get plot information and location of graves. Should I contact Holy Cross cemetery also? I will be visiting Philadelphia this summer and depending on time would like to visit the graves. -----Original Message----- From: Claire K <seekay@comcast.net> To: paphilad@rootsweb.com Sent: Wed, May 26, 2010 11:10 am Subject: Re: [PAPhl] Mary Donlin Ridley Park Hi Cheryl, Not sure from your note, so just in case... Did you contact Holy Cross for the list of burials in the grave? (Or at least the section, range, and lot, so you can contact the Catholic Cemeteries Office in Philadelphia to get the names/dates of burial of everyone else in the grave?) Or do you just have whatever obits you found? Sounds like you have at least some obits, none mentioning your elusive Mary Jane (naturally, she's hiding). If you don't have the grave listing(s) from Holy Cross or CCO, it's worth trying in case there's a stray family member or two you haven't already found in obits. Good luck! Claire K.
If you don't have S,R,L info, CCO charges $15; if you do have it, no charge. I always think it's worth saving the $$ to call the cemetery first (Holy Cross is VERY helpful) and get the S,R,L info from them. And sometimes they'll give you more (cause of death if it's noted, names / dates of others, etc.). So, I'd recommend you call Holy Cross. Can't hurt...
