D., Many Philadelphia Cemeteries are considered Archdiocesan Cemeteries and the records are kept in this central location. Some cemeteries in Philly are not considered Archdiocesan and the records are kept at that cemetery's church. AND...Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon is part of the Philadelphia Archdiocese. I'm pretty sure that New Cathedral is covered under the Archdiocese since it is not associated with a church Parish. You do have to know the date of death for the Catholic Cemeteries Office. I don't think they do searches but I could be wrong. You could try the Philadelphia Catholic Archvies. pahrc89@gmail.com They charge $15.00 an hour for research fees. You can email them and ask them for free, however. Is one place that has a listing of most all Catholic deceased persons? guess I just am not sure how to use that place. I have a number of deceased Catholic ancestors, three of whom I know death ates, but at least three others I cannot find any death dates. Is this a place hat might be able to help? Thanks listers for being so informative and helpful. . Blackwell lorida laine, I would suggest that you send one check for $15.00 asking for the burial ocations of all three - I do it all the time and they give me more than one lot information for my ONE check! They are very quick. Just a reminder....all of the offices of the archdiocese are CLOSED tomorrow, Ascension Thursday. It is a Holy Day of Obligation for Catholics. The Archdiocesan cemeteries and founding dates-Calvary 1945, (Old) Cathedral 1849, Holy Cross 1890, Holy Sepulchre 1892, SS. Peter and Paul 1958, St. John Neumann 1981, Resurrection 1959, All Souls 2009. The Catholic Cemeteries office has a small, very polite staff. I count over 50 parish cemeteries, some of them very old. St. Denis, Havertown, is outstanding for friendly response to queries. Also, the Philadelphia Catholic Archives does NOT do cemetery searches.
