    2. Barbara, In the 1870 census, who is the woman living with Michael & Eva Neff? Is it maybe her mother, who maybe remarried? Fredericka (wild guess on last name) Kussmle or Kufmle age 66. The Other Cheryl -----Original Message----- From: Barbara McCormick <geneslady@ec.rr.com> To: paphilad@rootsweb.com Sent: Tue, May 18, 2010 2:45 pm Subject: [PAPhl] Eva M. Fleischman, b. 1843 My gg grandmother, Eva M. Fleischman, has been my biggest brickwall for many years and I'm hoping this well-versed group from Philly can help. Eva M. Fleischman was born 15 Dec 1843 in Philadelphia, Pa. (taken from death certificate) and died 26 Oct 1923 in Philadelphia. She married Michael Neff in 1865 (date taken from 1900 Census) and had 3 sons: Edward M. Neff (b. Apr 1866), Albert F. Neff (b. Mar 1867), and William Neff (b. Mar 1868). I have found Eva on every census after her marriage, but nothing before 1870. I would love to find her parents and any siblings. The only clue I have (and maybe it's no help at all) is from Michael's obit: Bayerischer Unters Verein , No 1, and Unders Verein des D. S. S.Verein were invited to the funeral. Since my gg grandparent's were in the grocery business, I thought maybe her family were undertakers and out of courtesy were invited to Michael's funeral. Any help (large or small) would be greatly appreciated.....as I'm ready to start pulling my hair out!!!!!! 3. I too was wondering at this. Also, Barbara, I see you use the census for the marriage date and her death record for her birth date and place.  The marriage record may be of help, and also the births of her sons if her maiden name was provided.  The thing I'm wondering is if Eva either married before marrying Michael Neff, or if she used her middle name rather than Eva before her marriage. --- On Thu, 5/20/10, clabre1068@aol.com <clabre1068@aol.com> wrote: In the 1870 census, who is the woman living with Michael & Eva Neff?  Is it maybe her mother, who maybe remarried?  Fredericka (wild guess on last name) Kussmle or Kufmle age 66. 3. I think you could be on to something. On that same page there is another Fredericka, age 40 - could that be Eva's sister? When I checked the 1st Enum for this family, I fould that 66 year old Frederica is listed with the above Fredericka's family. The 66 year olds last name is spelled as KEENLEY. She was born in Wurtenberg. The 40 year old Frederica (last name indexed as Leyrer) was also listed as being born in Wurtenberg Regina > To: paphilad@rootsweb.com > Date: Thu, 20 May 2010 09:00:18 -0400 > From: clabre1068@aol.com > Subject: Re: [PAPhl] Eva M. 3. I found the 60 year old Fredericka in the 1860 census and living with her is a 15 year old daughter Christina. No Eva. 3. I'm not convinced that 60 year old Fredericka is related. I located a death certificate for one of 40 year old Fredericka's children. His name was William Leyrer the son of John Leyrer and Frederica Keenley. Clearly the 2 Fredericka's are related but I don't see how they are related to Eva. > From: reginanau@msn.com > To: paphilad@rootsweb.com > Date: Thu, 20 May 2010 09:37:21 -0400 > Subject: Re: [PAPhl] Eva M. 3. Cheryl...... I'm looking at the 1870 census now and there are only 4 people listed in Michael's household - Michael, Eva, Edward and Albert. Fredericka Keenley is living in the residence before my Neff's.
