    3. This cemetery seems to be a big mystery. But it appears the graves are still there and the care of the lot is turned over to the Catholic Cemeteries Office. Early on, some of my ancestors removed their family to New Cathedral but I don't think that was true of the whole cemetery. Susan

    3. Great information Susan! I just made a couple of calls in an attempt to clear up the "big mystery". A very nice lady at Our Lady of Hope (where St. Stephen's Spiritual records are held, but NOT the cemetery records) said the cemetery is still there. And you are right, the care of the lots was turned over to the Catholic Cemeteries Office. The nice lady didn't have an exact location for St. Stephen's cemetery, but she thougt it was close by New Cathedral Cemetery, also in Nicetown. I think the cemetery location is Lycoming and Elser Sts. New Cathedral is Front and Luzerne. Google map has them 1.4 mi. apart.
