This is a follow up to my previous request for information about marriage licences which you will see below. I have now found what appears to be the source of archived marriage records for Philadelphia at: http://secureprod.phila.gov/wills/marriagerecordinfo.aspx Before I send my request for a copy of the information they hold together with $35 I am hoping that that someone can give me some advice about this: Have I got the right website? Does anyone have any experience of making applications to City Hall for marriage records? Will the information they provide include a copy the application and of the license? Will either of these records show more than is given on the church register of names, addresses and date of marriage? In particular will the application and/or license show the status of the couple - spinster/bachelor, widow/widower, divorced and details of previous marriage. Can anyone please tell me what the procedure was for the documentation of a marriage at that time? Would a license need to be taken out before the marriage? If so how would it be possible for me to obtain a copy of the licence and from where? Thank you. David Railton Cheshire, England
