I've "rescued" two old photographs belonging to the BAUER Family of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The first is identified as that of Jenny BAUER and was taken at the Louis Blaul Studio in Philadelphia. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Jenny appearing to be in her teens or 20's at the time. In addition to her name, someone has also written "Aunt" on the back of the photograph. The second photograph is identified only as "Aunt Lena" though the handwriting on both is the same and the two women appear to be relatives. The second photograph is taken at the same studio with Lena likely in her teens or 20's at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding this family from census records: 1870 census of Philadelphia, PA: Lena BAUER, age 49, a Peddler, born Württemberg Louis BAUER, age 14, at Home, born PA William BAUER, age 10, Attending School, born PA Lena BAUER, age 7, Attending School, born PA Jennie BAUER, age 1, born PA 1880 census of Philadelphia, PA: Lena BAUER, age 58, born Baden, parents born Baden Louis BAUER, son, age 23, a Lawyer, born PA, parents born Baden William BAUER, son, age 20, a Silk Weaver, born PA Lena BAUER Jr., dau, age 16, a Silk Weaver, born PA Chinas BAUER, dau, age 12, at School, born PA 1910 census of Philadelphia, PA: - living in the home of Lena MEGONEGAL Louis BAUER, age 55, born PA, parents born Germany, a Saw Mill Wood Worker Jennie BAUER, age 42, born PA, parents born Germany, a Weaver I am hoping to locate someone from this BAUER Family so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to their rightful place, with family.
