I Found my grandmother's birth on Family Search in Philadelphia City Births 1860-1906. Listed were her date of birth 11 Jul 1903, name, Catherine Broderick, her father, Joseph Broderick, and mother, Charlotte. I do not have access to the image. Would the image contain any more information about her family? Jo-Ann
Jo-Ann: You can request copies of records through familysearch. I'm not sure why you say you don't have access to the image--all you need is to set up a free account on the site. I tried to recreate your search but couldn't find the birth record you mention--maybe because I'm using my phone instead of the full site on the computer. Sorry I can't help beyond advising you to register for a free account so you can see the image. The image of this birth record is available, as FS indicates: "To signed-in members of supporting organizations." This means you can't see this online from your home computer, but you still CAN see it in a couple of different ways --at one of the "supporting organizations." So either (1) go to your local library which should have this record (through Ancestry.com) --Maybe-probably! Call your local or county library first & talk to a librarian --this is part of their job, and they enjoy connecting people with the resources they need!. Someone at your local or county library will know. If the first person you reach on the phone doesn't know what you are asking about, then ask to be connected to a Reference Librarian. Or else (2) make a visit your closest FHL Library. They will certainly have an image of this record. Call them first to make sure of their working hours and their location. The librarians there will be able to give you directions on how to find this, but on their computers, the same search from which you arrived at this record at home should easily take you to the record (and image!) you want. If you want to save this image for your own personal use at home, take a USB drive ("memory stick" or "thumb drive") with you. Or... this could probably be printed on-site on 8.5x11 printer paper. But I strongly recommend getting the digital image if you can --it's easy to do! Once back home, you can save this image to an appropriate place in your own computer. After that, you will be able to open it with an appropriate program which your computer undoubtedly has.
