Yes, that is correct. Catherine Collopy is living with the Dorn family. Catherine married sometime after 1880 to Michael Brady. The father of Catherine, James Collopy, was living with the Brady's when he died in 1891. The mother, Ann Casey Collopy, is totally gone from the family by some unknown date for unknown reasons. Ann Casey is deceased before 1891, because James Collopy is listed as a widower on his death certificate. Here is the story from the family. Catherine's two brothers, William Collopy and John Collopy, spend some unknown amount of time in an orphanage in Philadelphia. The two brothers were taken from the orphanage by a family named Garber and moved to Chester County. William moved back and forth from Chester County to Phila. all his life. William spent time traveling west. John remained in Chester County for the rest of his life. As far as Catherine is concerned, was she ever in an orphanage? I don't know. Did the DORN family take Catherine from an orphanage and provide her with their home as a border and servant? Very possible. I do not know what years they spent in the orphanage. I do not know why they were put in the orphanage except for speculation. Did Ann die and James could not take care of he children? Did Ann leave the home for unknown reasons? One old time relative told me that Ann was a bag lady. whatever that may be in relation to the late 19th century. John Collopy is my great grandfather. I suspect my best search will be the Catholic Church since they were Irish Catholic to find documented data connecting mother Ann to daughter Catherine.
