    1. [PAPhl] Anyone Ever Hear of this Place?
    2. Hi Everyone,    Has anyone ever heard of a place called "Skull Island"    I have been trying to trace my Hawaiian Grandfather, David KAHANA, born: 26 Feb. 1894, Honuapo, Kau District, Hawaii Island, Kingdom of Hawaii - died: 31 December 1952, Philadelphia, PA. I have been talking to a family member and was told that Grandpop Dave and 4 other Hawaiians, came to the US mainland in 1910 through New York, were turned away, then tried to enter through the Port of Baltimore, and were turned away again. When they entered through the Port of Philadelphia, they were sent to someplace called Skull Island. I was told "that was were they sent Hawaiians". I don't know who 'they' were or why only 'Hawaiians' would be sent there. I have US Civil Service papers from the NARA, that states Grandpop Dave arrived in the US in August of 1910, and that he entered through the Port of Philadelphia. I have not yet done any research for other ports yet, so I have not verified this info yet. Thanks in advance. -- Dee Kaelin Maialetti Philadelphia, Pa. ************** Listowner: KAELIN-L **************** Kaelin Ancestry Page http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kaelin/index.html **************** Genealogy Blog: Looking Into The Past http://lookingintothepast.blogspot.com/ **************** Cemetery Photography Blog: Perspectives http://perspectively.blogspot.com/
