Hi Jenni, How much do you know about Bridget Daly? I have a Bridget Daly b. 1 Feb. 1870 Loughmacrory, Co. Tyrone (father Owen/Eugene, a schoolteacher; mother Roseann nee Kelly), but the only data I have on Bridget is her birth. I can't find any of the family in the 1901 Irish census. I know that my Bridget's sister Rose Ann Daly (b. 1868) emigrated to Philadelphia c. 1890-1893, where she married in 1895 Bernard Carlin (Carolan) -- they were my ancestors. Bridget and Rose Ann's brother Joseph Daly (b. 1871) also emigrated to Philadelphia, in 1898. I haven't been able to trace what happened to the other siblings -- Patrick (1864), Mary (1865), Eliza(beth?) (1867), Bridget (1870), Catherine (1872) and James (1875). Since I can't find (or, at least, positively identify) any of them in the 1901 Irish census, I'm thinking more than just the two I know about may have emigrated. Do you know where in Derry they married? The city of Derry is, as you may know, fairly close to Loughmacrory, Co. Tyrone (and with the father being a schoolteacher, I've long thought the family may have moved around a bit). The county of Derry, OTOH, stretches out over a lot of territory, so the specific location may not be all that close to Loughmacrory / Carrickmore, and this may just be a red herring (or unjustified optimism on my part). With the dates and locations (Irish and US) being so close, I thought maybe your Bridget could be my missing Bridget. Do you have any other info on your Bridget (or her siblings) that would help confirm or refute the possibility? Here's hoping... Claire K.
