    3. Sharon, Have you checked for Catherine's birth record? Philadelphia birth records begin in 1860. How about Catherine's marriage license? Although marriage records at this date in Philadelphia don't show parents' info, there's always a chance that she married while a minor and so might have had a parental consent form. And, of course, there's the relevant church records -- baptism and marriage. Any of the above might show the mother's name. HTH Claire K.
