    3. I am not always as successful in getting census records from FamilySearch as I am when getting them from HQ. Don't know why, but it just IS. All of these systems, or whichever ones we can get to, potentially can provide the exact right item we need. Sometimes one system works better than another. I have added 10,000+ individuals to my database within the last year, and that's been my experience for a while. 3. Hi Lorri, As stated you can get the census at Ancestry, some are free, some you must join Ancestry to get. Familysearch has them, (free) I also find FS difficult to search on, it used to be easier. Heritage Quest is available through libraries, if you are in a large city your library probably has it available, and you can probably log on from your home computer.... very handy. Keep in mind these are indexed often over seas and the people doing the work may not read English, they just look at the letters and enter them. For instance, I looked and looked for my ancestor James Hudson who I knew lived in Philly in 1850, couldn't find him on the census. After looking at ALL the James in Philly (and there were a lot) I found him indexed as PLudson, the person reading it thought the fancy H was a PL. So be sure and think outside the box. The HQ and Ancestry seemed to be indexed by different people as I will find people on one and not the other. Investigate all avenues. Good Luck to you.
