    1. [PAPhl] DICKINSON Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Dr. A. C. DICKINSON which was taken at the Trask Studio in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Dr. DICKINSON appearing to be in his 20's or 30's at the time it was taken. In addition to his name, someone has written "father of Mary D. BEALE" and "same as portrait" as if a portrait had or was being made of the photograph. Thanks to the assistance of some DICKINSON and BEALE Family Researchers I was able to gather some additional information regarding the man in the photograph: Mary DICKINSON was b. 8 Feb 1845 in Philadelphia, PA and d. 5 Jul 1927. Mary married Dr. George Fairlamb BEALE (b. 3 May 1842 in Downington, PA and d. 29 Dec 1924 in Coatesville, PA) on 1 Feb 1866 in Chester, PA. Mary DICKINSON'S father was Alphonso C. I. DICKINSON b. 1812 in New York, NY and d. 16 Dec 1860 Mary DICKINSON'S mother was Julia Wager BAKER b. 18 Sep 1820, married to Alphonso on 26 Jul 1841, and died in Philadelphia, PA on 5 Oct 1902 1850 census of Philadelphia, PA: A. C. DICKINSON, age 38, born 1812, born PA Julia DICKINSON, age 29 Margaretta DICKINSON, age 8 Mary DICKINSON, age 6 Josephine DICKINSON, age 1 Since A. C. DICKINSON died in the 1860's the photograph is likely a photograph which the family had reproduced in the 1880's in remembrance most likely. The reference to same as portrait would suggest that they may have even been commissioning a portrait at the same time the photograph was processed as well. The photograph does appear to have an older appearance like those that were transferred from earlier photographic versions from the 1850's and 1860's. I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
