    3. Hi Glen, I think it may just have stated it as a Pennsylvania Hospital since it was a Washington newspaper.......weird why it would be in a Seattle, Washington paper and I couldn't come up with anything searching the Philadelphia newspapers???? Wonder if there could be a police report or something from then? Have you sent for a death certificate?? Quite a story isn't it! I was searching the newspapers on genealogybank.com :-) Sharon -----Original Message----- From: paphilad-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:paphilad-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of glen Sent: Wednesday, January 12, 2011 3:25 PM To: paphilad@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PAPhl] 1937 Philadelphia Hospital (Murder). Hi Betty, greetings from the shores of Strangford Lough, Co. Down. Many thanks for your quick reply to my search. I will take on board what you suggest and try that line of enquiry. I have had one more email which puts a new light on my search - apparently it was "Pennsylvania" Hospital for Mental Diseases where the crime took place and a report in the Seattle Times said that a James McCullen had confessed to the murder of George Burrows. Apparently he had an urge to kill after watching a film and handed himself into police confessing to the crime. The paper was dated 28/3/1937. I thank you once again for replying to my request and appreciate this. I will continue my search now with new information provided. I used to have access to a Philadelphia newspaper through a library, but they were unable to continue their contract with the source, so I no longer have that access.  I have looked through my local library newspapers (online) and are unable to find what you want, but someone out there will, hopefully, have a subscription to some newspaper that will have an article.  I was hopeful that another paper would have picked up the story, but I had no luck. 3. Hi, all, try the Free Library of Philadelphia.    http://www.freelibrary.org/  and click on "contact us" at the top far right of the page, then "Ask a Librarian."  Since you have a date, it should be no problem for them to find the article.  Don't know what they will charge but I've found them very helpful in the past. Sharon mentioned getting a death certificate. You can get a 7-day free trial membership to Arcives.com   http://www.archives.com/GA.aspx?_act=VitalRecords&klp=GA98001&cam=315&KW2=Pennsylvania&Location=PA&gclid=CIeZ_4PjtaYCFdtx5Qod2VvVIA to find a death cert, but again I don't know if there is a charge. HTH a little bit. faith smith ________________________________ From: Sharon Frank <sharon1@cfl.rr.com> To: paphilad@rootsweb.com Sent: Wed, January 12, 2011 3:39:58 PM Subject: Re: [PAPhl] 1937 Philadelphia Hospital (Murder).
