Hello List. I am trying to find my way around researching Land Sales in the Philly area. I have a will of a great Ancestor from 1790, Susannah FOWLER, who asks that her "dwelling house and lott in South Wark" (Southwark) be sold and the proceeds divided equally among her six (6) grandchildren, named as follows: William Oakley LOCK; Benjamin Robinson TALBOTT, Susannah HOLGATE, Susannah DEVER (DAVER?), Mary Fowler SMITH, and Sarah FOWLER. Deeds for estate sales often hold clues to family ties, and I am quite familiar with researching grantor-grantee indexes in other states, but as of yet have not found the equivalent in Pa. I have visited The Pa Archives web site and have searched through the Patent Indexes, as well as the Warrant indexes, and I *think* I have the gist of things, but I am not finding a record for the sale of this lot in Southwark from the heirs of Susannah Fowler.
