"House keeper" or "keeps house" is commonly used for married women in the census and other records. Similar usage to what we more recently would have called "homemaker." Sorry, I don't have the earlier posts in this thread to check, but thought I'd mention this in case she was married, in the hopes it would save you from trying to chase down a family for whom she worked. Married women who had no occupation nor a business were not listed in the city directories.
