Hello I am looking for the Naturalization Papers for JOHN HIGGINS born 1858 in County Mayo, Ireland. I have his application for a USA Passport which was issued on 8 December 1890 in Philadelphia. This document says that John Higgins was naturalized in Philadelphia on 9 January 1890. I have his emigration details. He emigrated to USA in 1881 arriving at New York on the SS Waesland on 13 October 1881. He was living at 1622 Thompson Street, Philadelphia when he applied for USA Passport but wanted the Passport to be sent to 1851 Lambert Street, Philadelphia. I have been trying to find him on a Census with no luck. He was married but I don't know his wife's name or when or where they got married. All I know is that he died together with his wife at home at 1046, Jefferson Street, Rahway, New Jersey on 24 February 1926. They were buried in Calvary, New York. I am hoping that the Naturalization Papers will give me more information. I can't find this on Ancestry. Thanks Regards Pat Berry

Hi Pat, I took a look at the Phila. City Directories. There is a John Higgins, Laborer, living at 1855 Lambert St. in 1890. I don't see him there in 1891 or 1892. Based on the other information that you were able to give us, I found some more information but not the Naturalization papers. I did find a newspaper article stating that their daughter was Mrs. Arthur Marquet of Bergenfield, NJ. [cid:253c2bbf-fba3-423f-8015-a8dcb2a57192] The Record (Hackensack, New Jersey) 01 Mar 1926, Mon Page 10 I found Mrs. Arthur Marquet in the 1930 Census. She was listed as Eleanor Marquet. She was born in NJ in 1895. Her parents were both born in Ireland. Her two sons were 16 and 10. They were born in NY. I looked for Eleanor in NY in 1920 and found her living with her parents!
