The info given to me said that they went to the German Luthern church on Island. The source has since died so I can't clearify. These prople lived on Race Street; 874 Franklin St; 733 North 7th St; 3534 N Warnock St. From what I can tell they seem to be in the same general area. I was trying to nail down the German Luthern Church part of the message. Any further help will be appriciated. Ann Good Morning, Ann, From the addresses you give: Race Street, 874 Franklin St and 733 N 7th St are all within a few blocks of each other. If you are familiar with "City Blocks" Then, 3534 N Warnock St is aprox 28 City Blocks North of the area where the other houses are. It seems to me that the logical church would be St Michael's German Lutheran Church, SE corner of 5th and Cherry Streets. This would put it about 3 or 4 blocks from all three of the above addresses. (Cherry St runs East and West as does Race Street and Franklin and 7th Street runs North and South like 5th Street does). The whole area had been torn down to make way for the Independence Hall/Liberty Bell building. (I will be on 4th Street and will drive up 5th St and try to get a few pictures of the area today for you.) If St Michael's is their church then I have a picture of it that I will send. Kate
I'm not familiar with the geography of Philadelphia, but from my Civil War naval research, League Island was the site of (or near) the Philadelphia Navy Yard.
