    3. I have recently found evidence to link my ancestor, Thomas Davis d. 1752 in Cumru, Berks County, to his father named Samson/Sampson David/Davis of Plymouth, Phila. County. Samson was the son of David Thomas who died in Philadelphia County in 1717/1718. His children changed the surname to Davis. Does anyone have information about this elusive family? Thanks so much. 3. Could not find it on 1790 census on Ancestry. It was Thomas Davis and not some other last name since you said they changed it. I looked for Davis, Thomas. 3. I probably wasn't clear, Wanda. Sorry. David Thomas died in Phila. Co. in 1718. His will names Thomas, Richard David, Samson David, John David, Catherine, Anne (Evans), Gwen and Mary. All the sons except Thomas used the Davis surname thereafter. Thomas died without children so the Thomas surname died out entirely, at least with this particular family. Thanks again for any help from anyone.
