The only Island I know of is an avenue very far south in Philadelphia, next to the airport. There are no normally used islands in Philadelphia, with the possible exception of Hog Island, where I think there used to be a shipbuilding facility. The problem with my explanation is that there were a lot of name changes to streets in Philadelphia in the 1880's and 90's, to eliminate duplicate names. The City and County got the same boundaries about 1854, which resulted in duplicate street names like "Mill" because of the different little settlements in the county that had been built up. The Post Office or somebody forced removal of a great many of the duplicate names. So there may have been another Island Street or Avenue or Road, though I seriously doubt it. I don't know of any settlements with the word "Island" in them, either.
