Paul Paul- In all probability someone who died in 1957 won't be included in the SSDI listings because the SS records were not digitized at that time. Some were added later on but most don't appear in the SSDI. My guess is that there is a typo in the SS number on the Death Cert. or the person supplying the death info had the wrong number, if you are finding someone else listed in the SSDI with that number. You can try contacting SSA to see if they have the SS5 info for the person who died in 1957 even if you do not have the correct SS number. Joan

If you know he died in a VA hospital have you tried contacting your local VA for help? While trying to reconstruct some military records that were destroyed in the archived records fire I discovered that if a veteran has been treated in a VA hospital they likely will have copies of his service records. I was lucky in that the records that could not be offered by the archives could be supplied by the VA.
