While trying to reconstruct some military records that were destroyed in the archived records fire I discovered that if a veteran has been treated in a VA hospital they likely will have copies of his service records. I was lucky in that the records that could not be offered by the archives could be supplied by the VA. Good Luck, The VA has refused to even search for his name. They say that I need his service number or social to even begin to make a request for records. Paul
Paul, I missed the first part of your conversation. What year(s) are you talking about? I know you can get some records through the Freedom of Information Act. I have a standard form letter. If you'd like to have it, contact me off the list. Alice J.
