It offers relatively little information, but promotes it's FHL and FHC's by providing a catalogue of its holdings, though there is some free census information. Merle Beg to differ with you here, Merle, I have found alot of information on the LDS site. From hints of where to look, i.e., church records, census, town records, etc. You can also get info on the holdings of the church, Microfilm, Microfiech, books etc. These can be ordered from the Family History Center near you, you go to the center (THEY NEVER ASK IF YOU'D LIKE TO BECOME A MEMBER - CAPALIZED, NOT YELLED, SO YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN). Ordering the film, etc costs under $5.00 where a trip, to Arkansas - where I need info from now - costs considerably more. I live in the Philadelphia, PA area, father's family comes from Wilmington, DE.....yea, I know, just 50 miles down I-95. The nearest LDS FHC is about 5 miles away. Visited Wilmington many times, found nothing. Gave LDS a chance, and what did I get? My long lost grand father as well as his parents and the church that the whole family went to from 1870 thru present. Well worth the cost of renting the Microfilm as well as the time (2 hours) that I put in. So, don't sell the LDS site short, there's info there, if you are willing to look for it. They also have access to Ancestry.com (free). Kate Pitluck P S have been into genealogy since 1975, and I am a volunteer. Need info from the Phila area? I'll try to get it for you. I specialize in cemeteries - pictures and listings.
