    1. Hans Andersen from Norway
    2. Hello list. I`m trying to find out about my relative Hans Andersen ,born 29 Apr 1887 in Raade near Fredrikstad ,Østfold County ,NOrway. He was a seaman ,and came early to USA ,before 1907. He was a seaman on a ship called the SS Frank from Fredrikstad , Norway to unknown destination. Seemingly he settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1905 he sent letters home from ports in Britain and gave his address as C/O the Norwegian consulate there. On a later letter he gave his address as "Hans Andersen, Adrs. Edv-------------ansell, 2632 Richmond St. Philadelphia USA". Again part was pencilled too faintly to read, and just where the paper was folded. On a postcard home he wrote "I am aboard the International" again. The card was postmarked from USA in 1907 and the postmark was Flushing--- Whitestone Sta---- Part of the words was too faint to read. He shll have worked in the Philadelphia harbour on cargo boats going up the river. He may have been back in Norway and visited relatives, or worked on a transatlantic ship which visited Oslo/Christiania about 1925. He kept in touch with his family in Norway ,but no one in the family in Norway knows more than this about him ,and it`s assumed that Hans died in the 1920s ,but no one knows if he was married or had children. Unfortunately I don`t know when his address was 2632 RICHMOND STREET ,PHILADELPHIA ,but I guess he lived with a "Ed...........ansell" living at that address also...... Would guess he was surnamed Andersen ,Olsen or Gammelsrod in USA I would appreciate very much if anyone could be able to find this Hans Andersen in any census ,or at least this Ed.........ansell or who was living at this address 1910 and 1920. Maybe Hans was there too?? Hans` brothers daughter shall have written him when she was 7 or 8 years old abt 1915-1916. Really hope someone can help. Erik in Norway
