    2. I have Benjamin Hart Brown, born 5 June 1800 and died January 27, 1848 in Oxford Township, Philadelphia Co., Pennsylvania. Does anyone know of any military service that might apply to this time period? I am seeking information on his parents, siblings, etc. Thank you, Donna Cuillard

    3. I believe Oxford Township is in Chester County, Pa. Not Philadelphia County. ----- Original Message ----- From: <DCuillard@aol.com> To: <PAPHILAD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, January 13, 2006 11:04 AM Subject: [PAPHL] Possible Military 1800-1848 >I have Benjamin Hart Brown, born 5 June 1800 and died January 27, 1848 in > Oxford Township, Philadelphia Co., Pennsylvania. > Does anyone know of any military service that might apply to this time > period? > I am seeking information on his parents, siblings, etc. > Thank you, > Donna Cuillard > > > ==== PAPHILAD Mailing List ==== > Helpful abbreviations: (APS)American Philosophical Society, > [ARI]Annenberg Research Institute,(BI)Balch Institute,[DU] Drexel > University Library, FLP)Free Library of Philadelphia, [GHS] Germantown > Historical Society, GSP)Genealogical Society of PA, (HSP)Historical > Society of PA, LC)Library Company, [NARS] National Archives Regional > Branch-Philadelphia, PCA)Philadelphia City Archives,(PCH)Philadelphia City > Hall, (PJAC)Philadelphia Jewish Archives Center, (RWA)Register of Wills > Archives,(TU)Temple University, (UP)University of Pennsylvania Libraries > and Archives > > ============================== > Find your ancestors in the Birth, Marriage and Death Records. > New content added every business day. 3. Sounds like he was too young for the War of 1812 and probably too old for the Mexican War. But he could have served in the military without being in a war. And there were some indian wars, e.g., the Black Hawk War of 1832, and battles during that time frame. Alice J.
