Can anyone help me find the site for deaths from Yellow Fever. It gave a list of names of those who had died between Aug and Nov. Not sure of the year, somewhere between 1793 and 1798. I had the site but have lost it. A search of google left me site less. Many thanks Elayne
There was a big yellow fever epidemic in Philadelphia in 1793 -- I read a book about it once. A lot of people were buried in mass graves, many at 4th and Walnut, I think. There was a story that 10,000 people had been buried on the grounds of the Meeting House at 4th and Arch, but I was unable to confirm that. 10,000 is probably too high for the total anyway, but it has turned out to be impossible to determine the number at 4th and Arch. Many victims were moved to Stephen Girard's farm at about 18th or 19th and Spring Garden, and Washington moved the capital to Germantown. But I think actual names will be hard to come by.
