Another possibility is Elkton, Maryland, where a number of couples married, and I understand there was a place somewhere around 63rd or 64th st (actually in Delaware County) where people got married too. 2. I had a marriage in Phila where the bride used a different last name. This doesn't seem to be the case here because I checked familysearch.com for all Blanches married in 1895 and came up with nothing that is similar to the groom. The only way I found mine was getting the marriage license number from the Catholic Church which was still in existence. Sorry to be of no help. -----Original Message----- From: Betty Torno <btorno@charter.net> To: paphilad@rootsweb.com Sent: Thu, Aug 5, 2010 12:05 pm Subject: Re: [PAPhl] A Marriage Question - Houseal/Myers Helene, Sometimes, and I hope this is not the case, the clergyman forgot to egister the marriage. 3. Betty, I did find one article of a ME convention in Burlington, NJ (Mch 1895)with a D. Everett Lyon. While not finding him in the city directories, will go back to the 1900 census and a few directories to look for a "D", not Everett. A letter or call to Old St. George's Church might help Helene also. 1. Re: [PAPhl] Catholic Church near North Camac St. 1928?

    3. Good evening Dave, I think that address was either Holy Child or St. Stephen. The sacramental records of both parishes are held at Our Lady of Hope, 5200 N. Broad St. Philadelphia, PA 19141-1628. Our Lady of Hope was founded in 1993, a consolidation of surrounding parishes, your among them. Phone-215-329-8100 or 215-329-8164. I noticed a response stating that baptismal records are kept by the archdiocese. MICROFILMS of the sacramental records of every parish are held at Philadelphia Archdiocesan Historical Research Center (PAHRC). Check out their great website http://www.pahrc.net . The ORIGINAL sacramental records, Baptism, Confirmation, Matrimony are, with very few exceptions, held by the individual parishes, not by the archdiocese. In the case of consolidations and church closings(Alas! So many!) the original sacramental records are kept in either the merged, new parish (Our Lady of Hope) or at a neighboring parish after a parish is closed (ex. Gesu's records are held at St. Malachy). A parish will usually direct you to PAHRC when you are searching up to 1920 and Chris Friend, the archivist who does the searches is very good at what she does! In your case you are looking for your mother's Baptismal certifcate from 1928. I would call and confirm that the records are held where I think they are. Be sure they understand you want your mother's certificate. PAHRC would probably help you, but you wouldn't get a baptismal certificate. That has to come from a parish. It won't be the original, but it's still a very nice item to have. I wish you joyous success in your search for your mother's record! Unfortunately the census taken did not list the street they lived on. I have the book Philadelphia Maps 1682-1982 and I see in 1867, which would be the last redistricting prior to the 1870 Census that the 19th Ward was bounded by Germantown Ave on the West, Lehigh Ave on the North, Frankford Ave, E Norris St, and Aramingo on the East and Oxford St to the South. Does anyone know what the 57th District would be? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
