    3. Every year I hope this is the year I can make a contact with a Donovan/Morrison decendent ,maybe this year . !920 my grandmother Ella Donovan Schlotfeldt passed away in Tacoma ,Washington, leaving 8 children she was from Philidelphia, Pa. originally. Her father was John Donovan a civil war veteran, her mother was Sarah (Sallie) Kelly. She had three sisters Elizabeth married to Harry Gleim they were childless, Catherine was married to William H. Morrison and they had a son William born in 1904,and a third sister Gertrude not sure of her married name, and three brothers Dan ,Tim and John. The children on the west coast including my mother lost contact with the Donovan family after about 1930. Is there anyone out there who can help??? Jane Blair Britz

    2. Of the 6 children in my father's family, only the births of the 2 youngest were reported. They were they only ones born in a hospital and that was 1917 and 1919. My father's cousin was a premie twin who wasn't expected to live. His twin's birth was reported but his wasn't. (He just died at the age of 88.) In NYC, by the way, midwives were not required to report births at the beginning of the 20th century. Merle

    3. A set of grandchildren never had their births recorded at all until the oldest was 12. It got overlooked by the person who should have done it. (These were midwife deliveries.) Getting a birth certificate for a 12 year old is a real problem -- the state of Pennsylvania thought we might be trying to smuggle in illegal immigrants.
