In the past I've learned that there are as many opinions as there are people wanting to comment about this and not all opinions are well-based in factual information--and discussion soon turns into argument and gets out of hand. 2. There was an Oxford Township in Philadelphia at that time. It was in the area of the present day Northwood neighborhood and Frankford High School. What is now Oxford Ave. was the main street. It was separated from Bristol Twp., Philadelphia, by the Tacony Creek. Sndtenterprises Genealogical and Historical Research

    2. Donna: Two Indian Wars that come to mind, are the "Black Hawk War" in the No. Central states, and the "Florida Seminole Wars". The first war mentioned, was during the presidential term of Andrew Jackson, as was the First Seminole War, in about 1823. The Second Seminole War was in the mid 1830's, (Chief Oseola and the Dade County Militia, as well as U.S. Army troops). Suggest you check "Google", and type in, "Seminole Indian Wars" and "Black Hawk War". Lew in Co.

    3. Sounds like he was too young for the War of 1812 and probably too old for the Mexican War. But he could have served in the military without being in a war. And there were some indian wars, e.g., the Black Hawk War of 1832, and battles during that time frame. Alice J.
