    3. I am trying to find the Penn. 1910 Miracode on ancestry, but it does not seem to be listed among their databases, although I know they sell the CD. Does anyone know to access that database on ancestry? Thanks. Paul

    2. I just want to remind everyone that my LDS library had a full subrcription to Ancestry, and a couple other paid sites, so if you can't shell out the Ancestry fee, check your local LDS library. Besides, I find it so helpful to be able to bounce questions off them. Janet

    1. John Black/Philadelphia 1880-1900?
    2. Michele Heiderer
    3. Would SKS please check Philadelphia city directories for me for JOHN BLACK during the 1880-1900 time period. He is on the 1880 census with wife Jane. He is a wagon driver. On the 1900 census, she is widowed, so he must have passed away sometime during those 20 years. Thank you. Michele GO SEAHAWKS!!!

    3. I just signed up for the 14 free trial yesterday. They even called me this morning to make sure I was finding what I wanted. I have to say that I'm really pleased with what I'm finding and think the $179/year for access to all their US material will work just fine for me. Today I had trouble logging onto ancestry at www.ancestry.com . In fact when I put in that address, it took me to the page to sign up for the 14 day trial period. I finally went into google.com and put in the same URL and went right to their home page. I did just now (5p.m. Seattle/GO SEAHAWKS time) try to look up some 1920 census images and it went to a page that said they were updating things and to try back later. So maybe that's what is happening to you. Michele

    3. Craig, I forgot what year you were looking for ? I just got some info in my search that Pa didn't require them to get a license until the late 1880's One of the ones I was looking for was 1915 but couldn't find it . They are the ones I think went to Elkton. Cecil County Maryland. However I do have 2 for the Philly area. Keep a look out for I) Charles Jaep and Minnie / Wilhelmina Hoppackh/ Hoppack abt. 1881. 2) James Stevenson and Theadocia McClaren/McClarion about 1895 Would appriciate the extra eyes. Thanks. 2. I got mine from the State Archives in Harrisburg. Mine was for the year 1727 and did not contain information other than the Oath and showed his signature which told me he was literate and could write. The later oaths may have more information on them such as place of birth or origin. 3. Craig, I too am trying to find marriage dates in that time peroid and have inquired at the Phil Marriage Records. They want $25 to search and if they find it you get it and if not you don't but still pay because you are paying for the search. If you are in Philly you can go there and search the michrfilm free and make your copy or what I have started doing is digital photo's . The Latter Day Saints or Mormans have the LDS Library. the site is on line and you can search the library. Then go to your local library and order the film for $5 each or .50 for a fiche and wait a few weeks for them to come in and they look through it. That is cheeper. They say that the turn around time for Marriage licenses copies is 2-6 months. Here is some advice that I recieved when I posted the same question last week As for marriages, try checking church records near where they lived. These records can be also be found at the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania and the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. Also, post the inquiry on philly-roots and paphilad newslists.
