The Gale Group used to partner with Ancestry.com to provide a library subscription service called AncestryPlus. This particular service is no longer in effect and Ancestry now provides its library service in partnership with ProQuest. I don't know which libraries are currently using any services through The Gale Group. Joan

What is the cost of a death record from the Phila. City Archives? Are there any other requirements in obtaining a death record or please just point in the right direction to obtain this information. I have been all over the Phila. sites and could not find either the cost or what is required besides the money. Some places today require photo id. The PA State Archives gives all this information but Philadelphia does not seem to have it on their sites. Thank you, Janet

Island is pretty far south from north 7th. At least the current Island is -- there may have been one further north in 1890. I have an 1878 Public Ledger Almanac which has an English Lutheran Church at Race below Sixth (St John's), and St Luke's (4th above Girard),. German Lutheran St Jacobus, 3rd and Columbia (where I think my grandmother went -at about the same period), and another German Lutheran at Franklin below Vine. Street numbers evidently came in after 1878. I am not sure where all of these are or were, exactly, but they should be within a mile or 2 of 733 north 7th. List members that Know Philly I am trying to figure out where my Ggrandparents may have attended church in Philly. 1890 they lived at 733 North 7th Street and his Pipe and tobacco store was at 16 North 6th. I'm figuring that they went to church somewhere near by. A note I have says they may have lived on Race St. but I think that was in 1910. They attended a German Luthern Church on Island? Can anyone help me with this one ? Ann -- Ann Brown " Cookie"

I sent a request for two death cert. and received them within a month. Guess I just got lucky or the timing was right. I sent my requests in two envelopes with two return envelopes and they even sent them in one envelope and returned the unused envelope. I was really pleased with their response.
