Mastbaum theatre closed years ago. Whole place was dismantled. Those of us who attended Mastbaum Voc Tech High School look for anything that says Mastbaum. Kate, Yea, that's me! Wouldn't it be nice to get items such as this organ back in Philly? Wish I had $300K to do it. Larry B. ----Original Message Follows---- Mastbaum theatre closed years ago. It shows her to be 18 years old and she seems to be by herself. All the people above and below have different names. She was 18 and by herself by the looks of it. All the names above and below are not from a family , just individuals. I consulted the book, Philadelphia Naturalization Records edited by P. William Filby, but it was printed in 1982 and I am wondering if the addresses are still current. For example, does one still request Court of Common Pleas records from the Philadelphia City Archives? I have the address as Room 523, Philadelphia City Hall Annex, Philadelphia, PA 19107. For U.S. District Court, I have: Archives Branch, Federal Archives and Records Center, 5000 Wissahickon Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19144, with a notation to first write the Naturalization Clerk of the U.S. District Court, U.S. Courthhouse, 601 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106, for the petition number. Finally, the book says Supreme Court records must be obtained from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, P.O. Box 1026, Harrisburg, PA 17120. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me whether all this information is current. Thank you. Found a small photo of the Asa Packer School at... http://www.philadelphiabuildings.org/pab/app/pj_display.cfm/136368 ...but am wondering if anyone has a larger photo. To get one of the photos from that site would cost over $50. Larry B.

I am interested in learning more about John Vasey, proprietor of the North Exchange, a flashy sort of drinking house in Philadelphia ca 1834. The building converted to Temperance Hall, on North Third below Green. The temperance movement bought the building to purify it. John Vasey also ran an establishment called Our House at what had been called Military Hall (1835). Do either of these buildings still exist? if so, what is the current address and use of each? Is it possible to track down old deeds? Where should I be looking for this time period? Thanks to all, Carol
I missed the original post about O'Donnell, but I'm finding the following death indexes to be helpful (I've only used some, not all), and they may be ordered through and viewed at Family History Centers (see www.familysearch.org). Here is what to look for: Title: Death registeres, 1860-1903 Authors: Philadelphia (Pennsylvania). Board of Health. Death Indexes 1860-1865, 1866-1869, and so on through 1903. Then there are the Death Index Cards films that cover the years 1904 through 1915. Hope this helps! If these are available elsewhere, I'm sure others will know and post where.
