    2. DOROTHY MICHAEL
    3. Hi, Frances. Sorry for the delay in sending this. Here are the other two poems on these 2 pages: "To Washington" Blest Honour'd shade!our country's pride and boast -- Such are my feelings when I think of thee; The tears I've shed, the sign thy loss has cost, Can show how much! how dear's thy name to me, And not to me alone -- to all humanity. Crowned heads may boast of statues to their name, But thine's an humbler lot, but not less dear; Thy glory far more brilliant than their fame; Thy prize more grateful --'Tis a nation's tears, Not forced by wrongs, nor induced by its fears, A prize that worthier grows at each remoter year. But vain's the attempt to tell thy well earn'd praise, Or sing in verse thy feats of glory done. My feelings now shall mark my future days Immortal, ever honoured, Washington! William Cartwright Philad'a, October 17th 1832 "The Horse" A horse, long us'd to bit and bridle, But always much disposed to idle, Had often wish'd that he was able To steal unnotic'd from the stable. He panted, from his inmost soul, To be at nobody's control, Go on his own pace, slower or faster, In short, do nothing -- like his master. But yet he ne'er had got at large, If Jack (who had him in his charge) Had not, as many had before, Forgot to shut the stable door. Dobbin with expectation swelling, Now rise to quit his present dwelling, But first peek'd out with cautious fear, To examine if the coast was clear. 3. Larry, Hi, I attended Finletter also between 1951 and about 1955. Don't remember much except kindergarten in a large corner room, and the playground was completely covered in pavement. Even where the swings were. How did we ever survive? Learned to ride my first and only 2 wheeler in that school yard. Lived on Rosemar, 2 blocks away, till we moved in 55 or 56. I really enjoyed Lani's information about Thomas K and Thomas D. I wonder which one our Finletter was named after? You can't expect to find someone who died in 1960 on the SSDI because the records were not digitized until 1962. If you contact SSA they may still be able to provide info for you even though he doesn't appear on the SSDI. Joan

    1. advice or help please
    2. I have hit a brick wall.... I have gotten cemetery information from someone that gave me a specific date of death for someone I am desperately looking for. Michael Agnello died 5/20/1960 Buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in Philly I have had two people try for an obit and no luck. I also asked for a death cert. and the look up that person did came up empty as well. No luck in the SSDI either. I know he came from Italy because his census records indicate that he came over either 1900 or 1902 (unclear). He was naturalized but since I can't find an immigration record that matches his name at any of the popular sites, I don't know where to look. I know he was born abt. 1887 in Italy. The grave sites at Holy Cross have a WWII marker on them but I don't know if the marker is for him or his son Angelo, who is buried next to him (another tough one to locate info. on). I also know that he was married to Mildred Comadico (comedeco) (millie) and that they were married around 1907. No records found about the marriage either. I have found records of the family in the census under Agnello, Agnella, Agniello, and Vanella/Danella. This is adding to my frustration. Anyway, I would appreciate any lookups or advice anyone can give me. This is my husbands side of the family and there was a big falling out so the only resource I have is my father-in-law who knows next to nothing and has no pictures. Without Michael's parent's names, I can go no further. I was hoping the names would be on one of his records. Thanks again, Laura Agnella

    2. Sometime back there was a discussion about trying to get records from the Mount Vernon Cemetery Co., 3499 West Lehigh Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19132 (215)229-6038. I had a recent experience with this. This is what I found out. The charge for the first two names is $45.00. Each additional name is $10.00 with a charge for copying of $2.00 per page. The charge for photographs of monuments, memorials and residences is $12.50 for a 3 X 6 inch photograph. Maybe this information will help someone. It is too expensive for me. Jane
