    1. Re: [PAPHL] Phila McDevitts
    2. Joe, I have come across a Philadelphia McDevitt family in my research of my wife's genealogy. They are of the same generation as yours. I have to dig up my notes of several years ago. I think that it might be an Ellen McDevitt and a James McDevitt. I'll look as soonas I get the chance. Dennis Cox (Wife's surnames - Hare, Walker, Levett, McGowan, and possibly McDevitt)

    3. I'm seeking help with a Philadelphia family.....William McDevitt born Phila in 1860 married Laura Ryan about 1879. They had 3 girls (Mary born 1880, Jeanette born 1881 and Catharine born 1884). William died in 1885 and is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery at 11th & Wood Sts. Laura then married Edward J Brady. They are my grandparents. Now , the second part ....Jeanette (Jennie, Jetty..) McDevitt was born about 1852 in Philadelphia. She married Thomas H Power (no S at the end) in August 15, 1870. They had several children (3 or 4) among whom was Thomas A. Power who lived until 1954 and died in Phoenixville, PA. He had a son John. Jeanette died (from chronic alcoholism) in February 1881 and is buried at Cathedral Cemetery in Philadelphia. Her address at death was 609 S. 3rd St, Phila. After all this my question is does anyone have these folks in their line??? Are the (the 2 McDevitts) related?? In the 1920's Thomas A told my mother (they both worked at the same bank) that Laura Ryan Mcdevitt Brady was his cousin. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated....... -- Joe Brady researching..Brady,Walsh,Ryan,McDevitt, Pierse, O'Connor, Iaquinto, D'Alfonso, Ricci, Siravo, Carlino, and more

    3. Thanks for the reply. I happened to call them today and they encouraged me to fax or write the information to them and give them time to look it up before scheduling an appointment to view the gravesite. They are busy with burials at this time. They did indicate a fee, but did not say what the fee would be over the phone.
