I've "rescued" a group of 8 LEVY Family photographs. The photographs are as follows: . Julia LEVY taken at the S. Alschuler's Studio in Chicago, IL when she was just 4 years old. . Sophie LEVY STEIN, one taken at the J. Samhaber Studio in Aschaffenburg, Germany most likely in the 1880's with Sophie likely in her teens or 20's. . Sophie LEVY STEIN taken at the Stafford Studio in Chicago, IL with Sophie in her 20's or 30's. . Flora LEVY taken at the F. W. Guerin Studio in St. Louis, MO in the 1890's, with Flora likely in her teens at that time. . Rose LEVY KLINE, the taken at the Stafford Studio in Chicago, IL likely in the 1880's with Rose appearing to be in her teens. . Rose LEVY KLINE was taken at the McLachlan & Schlesinger Studio in Chicago, IL most likely in the 1890's with a note that Rose was born in 1873. . "Mrs. LEVY" and was taken at the G. W. Fox Studio in Sioux Falls, SD in the 1880's or 1890's with a note on back that she is "Mother of boys". . Caroline LEVY STRAUSS taken at the F. Gutekunst Studio in Philadelphia, PA in the 1880's or 1890's with Caroline appearing to be in her teens or 20's. Based on limited research I was able to locate some information regarding what appears to be this LEVY Family: Julia LEVY was b. 20 Feb 1877 in Chicago, IL to parents Abraham LEVY (1848-1929) and Lena OPPENHEIM (1856-1920). Julia was one of four children including, Rose; Julia; Mata; and Louis LEVY, all born between 1872 and 1882. Julia married Morris M. LEVINSON (1871-1903) and they had two children including Naomi LEVINSON (1903-2000) and Ruth LEVINSON (1903-1998). Julia died 5 Apr 1957 in Chicago, IL. Rose LEVY KLINE was b. 7 Dec 1872 in Moberly, MO to the same parents. Rose married Joel KLINE (1869-1934) on 19 Sept 1894 in Chicago, IL and they had two children including Norman Henry KLINE (1896-1964) and Leona KLINE KAHN (1899-1976). Rose died in Chicago, IL on 11 Apr 1920 and is buried in the Zion Gardens Cemetery in Chicago, IL. I'm hoping to locate someone from this LEVY since all the photographs were recovered together I know that they are all connected. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
Have been quiet about my site last few months It is mostly indexes to the testators who wrote the wills and died, gifting some and screwing others. SAMPUBCO http://www.sampubco.com Free browsing of all indexes, with ready links to FamilySearch.org site of images of records. There are some few where you can see the images only at Family History Centers near you. (Indiana is one state) W David Samuelsen
I've "rescued" a group of photographs which I believe all belong to the PENNOCK Family of Pennsylvania. The first photograph is one of Isabella L. PENNOCK Jr. which was take at the Gilbert & Bacon Studio in Philadelphia, PA sometime in the 1880's or 1890's with Isabella likely in her 20's or 30's at the time. She is also identified as "Aunt Belle" on the back of the photograph. The second photograph is of Alice PENNOCK and was taken at the Husted Studio in Philadelphia, PA sometime in the 1880's or 1890's with Alice likely in her 30's at the time it was taken. Alice is also identified as "Aunt" on the back of the photograph. In addition there are two photographs of young girls, both taken at the Phillips Studio in Philadelphia, PA in the 1890's with the girls appearing to be about 4 to 8 years old at the time. I believe the two young girls are also members of the PENNOCK Family. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family: Isabella Liddon PENNOCK was b. 5 May 1853 in Holmesburg, PA to parents George PENNOCK (1812-1900) and Sarah SELLERS (1812-1892). Isabella was one of 10 children born to this couple including, Elizabeth; Anna S.; Sarah Wistar; Jane Sellers; John Sellers; Alice; Mary Coleman; Isabella Liddon; Edward M.; and Alma L. PENNOCK, all born between 1836 and 1861. Isabella never married and she died 12 Aug 1920 in South Heidelberg or Lansdowne or Wernersville, PA and is buried in the Friends Southwestern Burial Ground in Upper Darby, PA. Her sister Alice PENNOCK was b. 6 Apr 1846 in Holmesburg, PA and was also unmarried, she died 1 Jul 1944 in Philadelphia, PA and is buried in the same cemetery as her sister. I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photographs can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who is, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

I just wanted to say "so long" to my fellow researchers and hope to meet up with some of you again on the Philadelphia Message Board at https://www.ancestry.com/boards/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.philadelphia/mb.ashx . B Casaleno
I'm sorry to hear the e-mail lists are not going to continue but happy to hear the message boards are active and free. Thanks for that link, Joan! RootsWeb was very beneficial when I first started doing genealogy, long ago now, and it was an amazing volunteer-driven site that I missed when it went down - then I got used to not having it. There are many messages going around that one will have to pay to use the Ancestry message boards, glad to hear that isn't true. I was involved with Rootsweb and USGenWeb long before Ancestry came along and don't remember you although I do remember Joan Young and all the hard work she put in. Rootsweb was always volunteer oriented but privately owned and never a right or some such as many seem to think. Many of those still around from the old days realize that without Ancestry's support Rootsweb would have long since ceased to exist and are far from being Ancestry sycophant as you so label us. None of this yammering is going to change anything and I applaud Joan for trying to find a good resolution to the situation and the future. -----Original Message----- From: Aaron Hill <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, January 8, 2020 12:55 PM To: Joan Young via PAPHILAD <[email protected]> Cc: Joan Young <[email protected]> Subject: [PAPhl] Re: Mailing lists on RootsWeb will be disabled in March 2020 God forbid! And you blame it all on Ancestry, whatever or why ever? Not so and Ancestry stuck by Rootsweb in spite of all those problems and those naysayers who screamed how Ancestry would abandon us within months or at best a year or two. -----Original Message----- From: W David Samuelsen <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, January 8, 2020 11:40 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [PAPhl] Re: Mailing lists on RootsWeb will be disabled in March 2020 not really. If you want to post on the boards you do need a FREE Ancestry guest account but using the boards is totally free. https://www.ancestry.com/boards/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.philadelphia/mb.ashx I'd suggest bookmarking the message board. I received the following message this morning. Please protest this short-sighted move, if you see fit. Perhaps if they hear from enough us, Ancestry will reverse course. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. I've "rescued" two old photographs belonging to the DICKINSON Family including the first of S. E. DICKINSON of Mauston, WI which was taken at the F. C. Everett Studio in Mauston, WI sometime in the 1890's. Samuel appears to be in his 30's at the time the photograph was taken. The second photograph is one of Cadwallader M. DICKINSON which was taken at the Lipp Studio in New York, NY or Philadelphia, PA. The second photograph was taken on 17 Jul 1905 when Cadwallader was just an infant. I don't know what the connection is between these two members of the DICKINSON Family, but they were recovered from the same source so I'm guessing that they are related. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding this family: Samuel E. DICKINSON was b. Mar 1851 in Springfield, MA, he was the son of Ira DICKINSON (1821-1862) and Caroline SMITH (1830-1882). Samuel was one of four children born to this couple including, Otis; Samuel E.; Theda; and Orpha P. DICKINSON all born between 1849 and 1869. Samuel married Lilly or Lillie M. GRIMSHAW of Genesee, WI. They both died 14 Dec 1927 in Milwaukee, WI from Coal Gas and are buried in the Genesee Cemetery in Genesee, WI. His obituary indicates that he was survived by a sister, Mrs. O. E. SEYMOUR of Hood River, OR; and his wife was survived by a sister, Mrs. Samuel NELSON of Genesee, WI. Cadwallader M. DICKINSON was born about 1904 or 1905 in Pennsylvania to parents John Morton DICKINSON (b. 1869) and Susan Hemphill CADWALLADER (b. 1872). Cadwallader had a sister, Rebbecca Wallace DICKINSON b. 1909 or 1910. I also have a photograph of Susan CADWALLADER and her sister which was taken when they were young. I'm hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photographs can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Rebecca and Sue CADWALLADER which was taken at the L. Rue Lemer Studio in Harrisburg, PA about 1882. The girls appear to be about 10-13 years old at the time. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding this family: Rebecca McCarrell CADWALLADER was b. 21 Dec 1873 in Philadelphia, PA to parents Charles Gerton or Giston CADWALLADER (1840-1909) and Jennie Styles WALLACE (1846 or 1848-1916) who were married 9 Nov 1870 in Philadelphia, PA. Rebecca was one of 8 children born to this couple including, Rebecca; Susan Hemphill; Rebecca McCarrell; Alice Whittaker; Mary Elizabeth; Helen Wallace; Wallace Laird; and Charles Girton or Giston CADWALLADER all born between 1870 and 1887. Rebecca married John Wilson GRAY (1867 or 1868-1950) and they had a daughter, Jane Eliza GRAY KELLOGG (1909-2004 or 2007) and a son Charles GRAY (1911-1990). Rebecca died 3 Sept 1947 in Ardmore, PA and she was buried in West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, PA. Susan Hemphill CADWALLADER was b. abt 1872 in Pennsylvania to the same parents. It doesn't appear that Susan married or had any children during her lifetime. I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph can be returned to the care of their family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
