The PA State Archives has quite a bit of holdings of original documents from the Civil War. I copied a form titled; Descriptive list of Deserters. This list was for the 133rd PA Vol. for the year 1862. Thirty men were listed and the description includes age, height, complexion, and eyes and hair color.
