My g-g-grandfather was a UB minister and went from PA to KS in 1850-1855. That is all nicely proven. But my grandfather used to say his grandmother was a Quaker, and a cousin had some letters from one of the daughters of that woman describing her death. It says they had a Quaker ceremony. But I can't find any records of her among the Quakers. I know from the g-g-grandfather's Civil War Pension application that he was married in 1845 by a Rev. John Wallis (his spelling). I've just found a reference to a Rev. John Wallace in the UB church for that time period. I wonder if that could be the same minister. I'm beginning to wonder if those early people meant something different when they mentioned Quakers. Does anyone have any comments or suggestions on this?
