I will be traveling to Perry County this week. Does the Saint Michael's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery still exist and where is it located. References say Pfoutz Valley, Near Liverpool, Greenwood Twp. The family name I am searching at this location is Ulsh. Also looking for any location where any of the Burkepile family may be buried, one listing I have is Little German Cem. Mannsville, PA. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Larry Brown Newark, OH.
Go into Millerstown and take rt 17. towards Liverpool about 4-5 miles and it sits off to your right surrounded by fields. The church is gone, but it was the scene years back of a indian massacre. Settlers were killed right on the cemetery near at an Oak Tree. Ulsh fits into my line just a bit, but I know for a fact manyare buried there as i have researched this cemetery. it is one of the oldest around and my relation was married there in 1739 long before this church was there. There was an old school house that sat there that served as a church and school both.Indians were so bad at St Michaels they had to stand gueard during the services. Due to my health I have not been able to get back over it lately, but its the most interesting ones I have ever seen. I have a photo here if you send me your email I will sent you a copy of the memorial thats there since the church was taken down. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Larry Brown" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, September 08, 2002 5:56 PM Subject: [PA-Perry] Saint Michael's Evangelical Lutheran Church > I will be traveling to Perry County this week.
