Hi: I punched Potter with Keyword Mifflin into Ancestry.com census and came up with 3 names. Two, George and Joseph, were in Mifflin County in 1850, and the ages didn't jive for them to be anything. The third was much more interesting: 1850 PA Census, Lycoming County, Mifflin Township, pg. 295, H67, F67 Robert Potter 29 Blacksmith Born PA Catharine Potter 28 born PA Mary Potter 22 born PA John Potter 18 Blacksmith, born PA William Stinger 7, In school, born PA Seems like a family of brothers and sisters, so I figured the parents were deceased. I would check 1840 for Lycoming County Potters, but first would check 1850 for other Lycoming County Potters. Here is what I found: Two, George (age 33) and Joseph (age 3), in Clinton Township, don't fit unless George, a farmer, is a brother of Robert. The third is more interesting: 1850 PA Census, Lycoming County, Anthony Township, pg. 194 William Potter 66 laborer born PA Sarah Potter 60 born PA Sophia 35 born PA Isaac Stinger 4/12, born PA Jacob Latch 60 no occupation worth 2000 born PA (brother of Sarah?) Could William and Sarah have given smithy to children and moved in with brother-in-law whose wife may have recently passed away and Jacob was ill? Everything is very neat here, except the age of John Potter. Could his birthdate have been transcribed wrong? (1832 instead of 1823?). Good luck, Kathy
